  1. Just watched Lucky Number Slevin. Pretty good movie although nothing impressive about the audio/video.
  2. Have you tried the AVS forum? Lots more people frequent that site so you may find more answers over there...
  3. Looks kinda cool. I may have to pick one up one of these days to check it out. I added it to my amazon cart. Now if only I had a spare few grand to empty out that cart =^P
  4. How much are you looking to spend? I *think* the new onkyos do this, but not 100%. Is this something where you will be watching TV or movies?
  5. Although I don't have SACD/DVD-A capabilities as of now, I'll be doing some DVD/Bluray concert reviews. More to come...
  6. ^^^You may be right, but the way rent is in this area I should be albe to do alright with it. With our VA loan we didn't have to put any money down and some fees got added to the loan, so we are a couple thousand upside down on it. To me, it may be worth it to hold onto at least until the housing market swings back to a seller's market. Selling it is something I've thought of too...we'll see what happens when the time comes up.
  7. ^^^Ha, kinda like when you added me =^P
  8. I see you pulled the trigger on the 4311, good to hear! How many positions did you run for Audyssey? Messing with Audysseys settings can be detrimental to SQ if you don't know what you are doing. As someone said above, it could just be the difference in the volume settings for this AVR vs your last. I used to turn my Onkyo up to -20 all the time and this one I usually have at -30. Re-run Audyssey for all 8 positions and just turn up the AVR louder if you need to.
  9. ^^^If I wasn't completely confident that I could rent the place out I wouldn't even attempt it. I live near an Air Force base that is growing, so new people will be coming in all the time looking for places to rent. If push comes to shove we will allow pets. The pickings around here are slim for that which is why we ended up buying in the first place.
  10. Any idea what kind of percentage rental agencies get? And I should be within 8 hour drive. Do you think it'd still be a good idea to go that route?
  11. Hi all, I recently got picked up for retraining into a different job in the Air Force (super excited btw), the reason I'm posting this is because we got to this place in Feb and bought a house with a VA loan thinking we will be here at least a few years. The job that I'm retraining into isn't located at this base so we will be moving for sure within the next 6 months or so. Basically what this means is that if we try to sell it we probably won't get anything out of it, so it will probably not be worth it to even put it on the market. For a while tho I've wanted to buy a house as an investment and I think it will be super easy to rent the place since the area and base is growing. I guess to make a long story short, do any of you have experience with rental properties and can you give me any advice whatsoever. I really have no clue where to start on being a landlord as far as where I would go to draft contracts and all that jazz (short of getting a lawyer). Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated...thanks!
  12. ^^^But at least it'll be something cool he is spending on instead of a pesky mortgage.
  13. Congrats to ya. I can't imagine the money you saved on a 10 year mortgage...
  14. I couldn't do it either. Those bad boys would have been out of the box the first day they came to me.
  15. watching it now, pretty good video/sound, not really paying much attention to it tho...
  16. I got my SW-115 for $600 and I would not hesitate to recommend it. I really need to hear some other subs so I have a comparison, but I think it's a great sounding sub.
  17. I gotta say, they definitely could have found someone better than Rihanna tho...She reminded me of Beyonce in Goldmember as far as acting skills go.
  18. I watched it on vudu in HDX. It wasn't that impressive sounding to me. I might check it out on bluray some day, because it was a decent movie, although the ending seemed quite abrupt, kinda like Ironman 2.
  19. I think he meant to say RS-62II...
  20. I would say that's a good choice. If I didn't plan on getting a second sub in the near future, I would have went for that one myself.
  21. I agree with what others are saying about the RS series. I have the 62IIs and there are times it sounds like 7.1 when I'm watching a 5.1 the way the sound moves from speaker to speaker.
