  1. Yea Fish . I hear ya. All the way here in Pa. LOL. I'm an RF-7 guy myself.Big time. I own 4 of the beasts. The Vertical Limit Superbit disc you mentioned is awesome! That DTS track just fills the room with power. Now I know why people naturally duck while getting into helicopters. Whoa ! How about the avalanche. The sound seperation has been mixed great.
  2. Excuse me if I'm wrong but I'm getting a funny feeling that Dafishguy is running out of DVDs to play on that beautiful new system he has.Confess Fishguy. You gotta play as many DVD's you can get your hands on with those new RF-7's don't you.

Day 7 The Lord of the house admired his home theater and rested. This message has been edited by BBB on 06-04-2002 at 10:41 PM
  4. Yo EAR !BINGO ! Now THAT'S what I'm talkin' about.
  5. Tom owns over 10 Klipsch speakers and more SVS subs than anyone else. Now THAT"Swhat I'm talking about.I think it's great that we can discuss everyones preferences for equipment here. Our likes and dislikes of different products. On the other hand I also think a person should of at least owned or used ,for a reasonable amount of time, a product before bashing it armed with only facts and figures provided by so many know-it-alls many of which are biased toward certain products.Yes I'm biased but I also own 9 Klipsch speakers and 2 SVS subs.Four RF-7's,two RF-5's,two RS-7's and a RC-7 with 2 SVS Ultras to be specific. I can provide the serial numbers, date of maufacture and the name of the person who tested and inspected these speakers right here on this forum and I am sure Tom can too. I wonder if the people who have been bad mouthing these products can do the same ? Don't give me the "I have a right to my opinion" nonsese. I'm speaking of shedding a bad light on quality products by people who have never actually used them in their systems.I have my opinions of products I have never owned but I think slinging mud at someones audio equipment without hands on experience is a load of bunk.
  6. Magicmix EXXX ??? Huh ? Well Ill be a MONKLIPSCH UNCLE ! I think I missed this one. Goes to show you. If you blink your eyes for just a few centuries technology will pass you by. I guess their slogan is right. Only from the minds of Monkola . Ive got to pay more attention to these posts because I missed how monks from Thailand ended up brewing beer in Belgium. Was it something that happened during a student foreign exchange program between MIT and BSU? We better keep an eye open with these new kids. The next thing you know theyll be making bath tub Ginsing in the basements of fraternities all over the globe. Funny thing is I thought I heard of this Magicmix EXXX before and just dismissed it as call letters of some radio station a grocery store was piping through their PA system. I think they were playing the Monkees Greatest hits. I dont know. My memory is all mixed up. I better cut back on the Thai sticks. Either its that or the after effects of having 4 RF-7s and a couple of RF-5s and a RC-7 pointed directly at my head in my living room. Having 2 SVS ultras on either side of me is probably adding to some brain wave confusion. Well Ive got to stop goofing around and put on my favorite Thelonious Monk album. I picked it up while on a shopping spree in a Bangkok K-Mart just as they were running a red light district special in the live food aisle. Gotta go now. My bath tub awaits!
  7. Who would of ever thought that over fifty years ago the name Klipsch would be a word I would use thousands of times while talking and remember millions of times while listening. Paul Klipsch may have passed away today but has left us a legend that will be spoken of for many tomorrows. I just wish I could leave this world as Paul did. With grace , class and smiles on the faces of millions of happy people who have a part of him in all their homes . Thank you Mr. Klipsch. God Bless you and your family.

  9. If you could return your RF-7s for the full list price to the authorized dealer you purchased them from for a trade in on a BRAND NEW set of speakers by ANY other manufacturer what would you choose? Im not talking about what dealer does that? because I have one. It is not an internet dealer. And Im not talking about horse trading on the internet either. What I mean is taking four new $1,100 Klipsch speakers and getting four NEW $1,100 speakers of ANY brand from an AUTHORIZED dealer. I dont want to take the $4,400 and contact Joe Shmo from Kokomo whos selling $30,000 speakers out of his garage that he picked up at some estate auction. Dollar for dollar, Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price, what would you buy that included the same type of warranty as Klipsch ? Im not being a wise guy. I am totally serious. What manufacturer offers better sound and better quality for this amount of money ? Klipsch has allowed their customers to discuss their competitors on this forum so why not mention an equal product for an equal retail price? Something that will handle 400 watts a channel. Thats what my Cinepro is delivering to them now without a shake rattle or hum. Bye the way Im also biamping an RC-7,400w/400w, and have used the system way above reference levels and havent noticed anything coming unglued or falling apart at the seams. I also own RS-7s and RF-5s and crank them without a problem. But we are discussing just the RF-7s. Any opinions from people who own or have owned the RF-7 who have replaced or want to replace them ?
  10. I liked this movie and the sound track. I used to own a Toyota Supra and a 1968 Barracuda with an A-type 318 made in Canada. I do have one question. What do you get when you put this car: NHRA Super Stock Eliminator Quarter-Mile Record Holder Class / E.T. /Speed / Date Driver/Car SS/A / 8.82 / 152.00 /05/05/01 Al Lee -'68 Ply Barracuda. Against 5 Toyota Supras? Answer : 4 bowls of rice krispies and a side order of fried rice.
  11. I have to disagree with Penguin.I think Milla is great in any fabric, .. I mean movie, however it's stretched! ooops

    Blues artists

I'll add a few good blues artists that should be given a listen to : Ronnie Earl Omar and the Howlers John Hammond I'll mention a few every once in a while when I cruise the boards. I would'nt want to bore everyone with long lists of great musicians. Have Fun.
  13. Youngklip, Out of the three manufacturers you mentioned in the $4,000 range the only one that I have purchased from is Cinepro.Of course I have a heap of Klipsch stuff but not Aragon yet.Cinepro's DTC-10 looks good on paper.Their quality is first rate with me as far as their amps are concerned and I wanted the best for my RF-7's. Hey, I'm a Klipsch nut. The official date of availability for the processor is April 15th.I won't give them a free advertisement on this Klipsch site but the President of the company,Eric Abraham, definitely knew what he was talking about when we discussed my Klipsch Reference speakers.I bought on line but I also talked with the founder by phone without any problems. Ask for him. Good luck. BBB
  14. James, speaking of Sci-Fi from that era, the War of the Worlds was on television again last night.Released in 1953. I could not beleive how good it still looked even on my wide screen tv. Surprising. Of course there's my favorite from those days Forbidden Planet.

    Blues artists

Well Huhuru I dont know if ashamed is the right word. I think Flason makes a good point though when he said theres just too many great artists to list. I think the word contemporary may have thrown some of us blues lovers off the track. I have some of ZZ Tops albums and Johnny Lang and Eric Clapton. Are these the artists we are talking about? I have a little music from T-Bone Walker, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy, Sonny Boy Williamson, and dont forget about these BIG BOYS Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf , and the great Elmore James. Then there are the Kings of blues ,Albert, Freddie and B.B.. The list could go on forever. I like some of the recordings of performers that you can see play live today like Koko Taylor, Dr. John, Johnny Winter and my favorite, the King of the Singin String, Otis Rush. Stevie Ray Vaughns band was named after his song Double Trouble. To use one of the song titles of the great harmonica player Little Walter ,we could go Off the Wall in a long discussion about blues artists. So be it if anyone wants to join in. Have fun.
  16. The Ten Commandments on TV?, DVD?,DTS? What are these abbreviated terms you guys are using. Do you mean that I can actually order this movie from a Montgomery Ward or Sears Roebuck catalog ? I dont own a projector so I guess Im going to miss it .These 35 and 70mm films must be expensive. How do you people afford this stuff? Bummer!. I remember when I went to see this movie about 3 to 6 months after it was released in 1956. I tagged along with some of my older friends in the neighborhood and got in the theater without my parents. I was 7 .In those days a kid my age could walk the streets of N.Y. without any fear. I dragged in my salami sandwich in a bag and just stared at the Bon Bons in the freezer case. Those were the days when you went to see movies just because the theater was the only place in town with air conditioning. I have to agree with Tom that the colors are outstanding in this movie. Keith ,about that Steppenwolf record, do you think I should read the book before I buy one down at the Five and Dime? And Boa, I have a question. How in the world can a light be black? You kids and your new fads make me laugh. Hoola Hoops and that new dance, the Twist or Mashed Potatoes or something? I dont know. Maybe Ive got some catching up to do but I cant waste anymore time here. I have to get back to fixing an electric can opener. I just got it 17 years ago! Darn new fangled contraptions! They just dont make things like they used to.
  17. Very smart move Justin and a very nice MITS! I think you will be pleased. There are alot of tweaks you can do to that set.Try the Home Theater Spot.I've use many of the suggestions there to enhance the picture on my 55807. These are awesome machines when tuned and especially with your audio set up you'll have a great home theater happening.Congrats and Good Luck my friend.
  18. I have to agree with a lot of jhawk92s comments. Some of todays pop artists are actor-wannabe musicians. Some of the good actors know that if you want to play the blues you gotta pay the dues. Even some of the most successful actors of our day like Russell Crowe, Will Smith, Kevin Bacon, Bruce Willis, just to name a few, want to be recognized as musicians. Remember what Bachman -Turner Overdrive sang in their song Takin Care of Business If it were easy as fishin' You could be a musician Yeah Right. You can fake playing an instrument or singing but when it comes down to the real deal you better have the chops because the people whos respect these wannabes want to earn will be the first to bury them in the dust of a million juke joints and one night stands on the road of creating the art form we know as music. I apologize for sounding so bitter. It just irritates me that there is too much unrecognized talent in the world of music while the airwaves are hogged by a conglomerate of no talent musician impersonators. 19. Hello Chuck and Flynn, sorry to stick my nose in here but I was up early cruising the boards.Chuck try this: Neil Young: Road Rock #1 (DVD-Audio) Format: DVD (Region 1 & 4) Retail Price: $24.98 Warner Bros. Flynn,I like the Toshiba's. The SD 4700 is a good player. If you hunt around you may be able to get an SD 9200 for around 500 to 600 dollars. Some places are closing them out.I have one and it is great for all audio(no SACD) and a fine video player ta boot.DVD-Audio is great. It can be expensive and has a limited amount of titles available.Sure does sound good though.Have a good day guys.
  20. I'm with you Lovedrummin. I'm one of those "old guys" too. Jeff Beck has 15 solo albums not including the Beck,Bogart and Appice ones. He has been given credit for playing guitar on over 120 albums. He's 57 years old.Not too shaby a career for "an old guy". LOL
  21. I have to agree with you James.FM is dead.I remember in the late 60's it was the only thing I would listen to.Listening to the first Tull,Zep and Hendrix albums on the air sprinlked with a little Cheech and Chung inbetween. Then a few weeks later I would drive down the road to see these guys live.I thought I'd never say it but those were the good old days.I don't pay attention to any of this award nonsense be it movies or music.I just brought it up because an old player like Beck might make some money in the long run from some hype he could care less about.I'm one of those old guys who used to go to the Philmore East and listen to Bill Graham telling everybody to be cool.I love live music. Adios .
  22. So what do you think of this years winners? Here's one that's way overdue:Best Rock Instrumental Performance, Jeff Beck for Track from: You Had It Coming,Dirty Mind. His Blow by Blow album has pushed me to buy a SACD player. My favorite guitar player. WHO ELSE !
  23. WOW ! I'll take one of each in every one of those pictures. At the rate I'm going I MIGHT be satisfied with my system once I see 8 Clair Brothers tractor trailers rolling down my driveway !
  24. Well Justin, nothing in marriage is truely guaranteed but I did celebrate my final alimony payment by purchasing some RF-7's. This message has been edited by BBB on 02-24-2002 at 05:55 PM
