  2. If there's EVER anything like this floating around just got to snopes.com to see if it's legit.

  4. Right on Dean! Eddie's probably the most underrated rhythm guitar as well. Five pages and not one mention of Lenny Breau...for shame.
  5. The list wasn't really bad...but it was so typical and completely unoriginal. It's like nothing matters outside of 1967-1978(when Van Halen I released). At least make separate lists by decades & genres.
  6. Seti, The Slits recorded some new stuff(pic below) a few years ago and are supposed to have a nother full length coming out. Sorry it's not so sexy.
  7. THIS sounds amazing on wax. HERE is a little more info. version.
  8. My bad...I just re-read the thread and it was RichardP who said it.
  9. Fenderbender was it you who said the SACD was 4.0? I'm confused. My regular copy has lots of center and sub activity.
  10. I admit to being obsessed with this song lately. Some of my favorite versions are by Lenny Breau(the most underrated guitarist ever?), Cannonball Adderley w/ Miles & Blakey, Earl Klugh, Eva Cassidy, Joe Pass & Nat King Cole. My very favorite version though is a very unorthodox version by Coldcut and remixed by Mixmaster Morris aka Irresistible Force. HERE is a link to the track atop some visuals via someone's homemade youtube clip. One of the best chillout tracks ever but barely recognizable compared to most versions. Some versions I haven't heard but would like to: Paul Desmond, Chet Baker, Art Pepper, Bill Evans & Keith Jarrett. I'm only assuming that Sinatra sang that at some point too eh? A few that I have no idea if they ever performed it but would like to imagine if they did...Jeff Buckley, Nick Drake & Kenny Burrell. How many obvious must-hear versions am I missing?
  11. One of my very favorite things about living in Austin is living right behind the Alamo Drafthouse. Voted best theater in the US several times. Brakhage has some wild stuff! I'm going to the Fantastic Film Fest in just a few weeks.

  13. Thanks Darrell! Yes that was a funny episode. I've heard it before and it's included on one of the 3 TAL compilation albums that were released. I guess many aren't hip yet to this radio show that's been on air for 13 years and has won countless awards including a Peabody :-) There's also a tv version on Showtime now. I'm addicted to it like a crackhead to rock. You guys are missing out. It's not your dad's talk radio.
  14. If so what are some of your favorite episodes? If you have no idea what I'm talking about you are missing out. HERE is a page with some of the editors faves. You can stream them all for free or download hour long episodes for a buck. These are the best for driving. Some of my faves are: the Curly Oxide episode that is being made into a movie starring Sacha Baron Cohen aka Ali G/Borat. Superpowers is awesome. Telephone is one of the greatest ever. Any ex-Navy guys will like Somewhere In The Arabian Sea. I've heard several hundred and almost all on that page and they're all really good. Give me some suggestions if you're a fan.
  15. Two words...Jeff Beck. Blow By Blow and Wired are the first two to get if you don't already have those. Cause We've Ended As Lovers from Blow By Blow is possibly my most favorite guitar song of all-time.
  16. Pretty Hate Machine & The Downward Spiral are my favorites. Don't care for the newer stuff as much. There are also several EPs with some great remixed tracks.
  17. Thanks for the info George and artto. I've read about ESL's for years and have lusted over them ever since. My experience with electrostatic speakers is pretty much zero except for a few short listens to some lower-end Maggies and some Martin-Logans(years ago) and I remember liking the sound a lot. Just kind of curious really as I think my amp setup would not like ESL's.
  18. I thought Vestax has been selling this for YEARS. I know Qbert has one.
  19. The beautiful Soledad Miranda graces the cover of my favorite soundtrack of all-time and one of my favorite album covers in general...Vampyros Lesbos Soundtrack.
  20. My personal computer history is filled with misery using Window-based machines. I started on the amazing Atari 1040ST, moved on to a 133mhz Windows machine that I paid $2000 for, then a string of equally bug-ridden, error-filled mostrosities until I got it together and entered the stress-free, error-free world of Macs...PERIOD. This is my experience and no amount of staring at BIOS screens will ever change the facts. Non-stop registry issues, compatiliblity amongst components issues, blue-screens, etc. I was sick of it. Good riddance and never again. My Macbook Pros have NEVER screwed up. My Dual processor tower in my recording studio has NEVER screwed up. My Mac-Mini...you guessed it, has NEVER screwed up. I just don't see why anyone uses anything else especially if they work with a lot of digital media. The biggest problem I've ever had working on Macs is little bug that exists now that sometimes forces you to insert a cd twice. There is a bug with the Leopard, itunes & CDDB(this looks up artist info, etc.) combo that no one can figure out. If the biggest problem I've had in almost 10 years is having to reinsert a cd to get the names of the songs then I'm in good shape.
  21. The cool thing is that you don't even need to be savvy to do that on a Mac. This reminded me of the classic P-P-P-Powerbook Scam from a few years back. Read the whole thing for a bit of hilarity. I think it may have some cussing BTW.
