  1. One thing you can count on with an estate sale is that the people running the sale have researched what they are selling and usually price the items on the high side and the chance of a great deal is highly unlikely.
  2. I have been listening to a couple of Albums/cd’s of Leonard Cohen and my system never sounded better. You want it darker and Popular Problems,I have been listening all day switching between these and Alison Krauss and Union Station so long so strong cd,another great cd/ album.
  3. Playing a mono for dj only album by The Cowsillls,Captain Sad and his ship of fools.Picked up 8 albums today at a fall festival and they all in very good t excellent condition.
  4. I have his Volti horns,bms4592 mids and his vtk-400 crossovers and his work is first class and these mods have made a huge improvement in the sound of my speakers.
  5. Leave it to the government to mandate upgrades and then your reception is not what it was before the upgrade.Reminds me of apple upgrades. My iPad always seems to slow down when I upgrade.Good luck Joe

    What I Got Today!

I received my new pie style Klipsch badges for my upgraded Klipschorns and I know with the upgrades they are not technically Klipsch speakers. The woofers are Klipsch, the bass cabinets are Klipsch and I never liked the look of the top hat without badges .Now I love the sound and I also love the way the look.

    What I Got Today!

I have the same Primaluna Prologue Premium preamp and power amp and I love the sound with my modded Klipschorns lipschorns

  9. You might want to figure shipping cost on empty boxes, they go on dim weight for shipping cost.
  10. How do you like the sound of the amp,I have a Primaluna Prologue Premium amp and preamp and I love the sound of them.
  11. Keep all of your boxes, having the boxes will be a big help when reselling or moving your system. What Primaluna amp Did you buy.
  12. Just keep checking out Arizona Hi-fi for trade ins
  13. The line magnetic amp is a single end triode amp and the Primaluna is a push pull amp,so they will sound different. The Line Magnetic amp will have a magical midrange with a more open airy sound,The Primaluna will be dynamic and dead quiet,I have used a Line Magnetic LM -219ia with my Klipschorns and that amp was one of the best sounding amps I have even had in my system.Mine had upgraded Psvane western electric copy 300b’s and 845’s and upgraded Telefunken 12ax7’s.The only reason I sold it was the weight and the heat of the tubes, plus the fear of one day having to replace the tubes.I now listen to 3 different amp, preamp setups and each one has its strong points Dennis Had sep tube amp with matching lp3a preamp great combo that is great with my Klipschorns sweet sounding pair, very detailed with alive like isound that is easy to listen to..I just wished the preamp had a remote control. line Magnetic lm-126ia Limited Edition amp based of western electric design very close to the LM-219 and I have it for sale due to weight and size. I am using a Primaluna Prologue Premium amp and preamp and I am using it now,a little closed in compared to the Inspire pieces or the line magnetic amp,but dead quiet and very dynamic on my Klipschorns .If I was going to buy a amp now Primaluna has just released new models and you should be able to get a deal on the older models.I don’t think you can go wrong on either of the amps you have on your list.
  14. How, I am amused that this tread is still going on like this with no reference to the original post.If a moderator wants to close it that have at it.
  15. I am really enjoying the Primaluna pieces and I hope you are still enjoying the Otari reel to reel.Kim and I was at an estate sale yesterday and they had a Pioneer RT-909 and some tapes. They were in the process of completing a deal and I told Kim I hate I missed that .She said really you just sold a better looking deck than that one and didn’t you tell me reel to reels are too much work. They sold the deck and at least 15 tdk Premium tapes for 750.00
  16. Here is a picture of the back of the speakers to show the enclosed backs so you can use them without corners the crites crossovers k-55-v soldered plug midranges.I can email more pictures as I have trouble loading more than 1 picture at a time. These speakers address the know issues with Klipschorns, midrange too bright crites type a/4500,horns issues 2” tractrix horns and crites ct-125 tweeters as the crites crossovers will fry k-77’s
  17. I was thinking the same thing, the cabinets and the woofers are the only parts that are Klipsch,I would to dress up the grills up.This forum has been a big help in my quest for making an already great sounding speaker better.I can easily take these back to original Klipschorns, the crossovers are in the bass bin and I just removed the positive and negative leads from the binding post ,ran wires from the woofer to those post and then ran wires from the outside post to the ALK Crossovers.
  18. I have posted on the forum about the changes I have made to my pair of Klipschorns,I bought my Volti horns here from a forum member and his pair was some of the first ones made and they came without fabric.I ordered the fabric from Crites and installed the fabric myself. It took awhile but I think it turned out nice. The only thing missing now are badges, I thought about trying to order a pair from Volti Audio, but I would really like the pie PWK style.Looks like there are 2 sellers on eBay,has anyone used either one.Below is a picture of one of the speakers with the new fabric
  19. https://orlando.craigslist.org/ele/d/saint-cloud-tyler-acoustics-pd-30s/6955945143.html Do you live close enough to go and hear these speakers,it would be interesting to have someone with some knowledge of the sound of Klipsch speakers to be able to compare both brands.
  20. I have enjoyed this hobby for 40 years and during that time I have owned many pairs of top quality speakers, infinity rs 4.5’s,ads l2030’s ,Klipschorns, and many current day ultra hi end speakers,I miss the l2030 those were great speakers, but they need high power amps to drive them.I always loved Klipschorns, easy to drive and when setup in the right room they can do things no other speaker can do.The only downside to me is that after a couple of hours of listening I get tired of listening to them. Then I found this forum and I read about the upgrades.2 things that I did not like about upgrading the speakers 1 they would no longer be a true Klipsch speaker and 2 the cost.I was lucky I picked up Cigarbum modded Klipsch and after I little work that got me hooked.I then began to piece by piece buy everything I needed to mod my current AK-4 Klipschorns,I played them for a month before making my changes.I kept switching out speakers and I finally decided to change the wires on my Klipschorns and when I did that I like what I heard,so I then changed out the horn using an adapter to use Klipsch drivers,if I didn’t have the other mids and tweeters I would have probably been ok, but first I tried the B&c dcm-50 midrange with de-120-8 tweeter and the alk cornscala universal crossover, open clear with no brightness. After a couple of days I switched out the B&C midrange for the bms-4592 nd mids and the bms midranges are the ones I plan on keeping in my speakers, I have a Volti vtk-400 crossover I may swap out,but for now I like the alk crossovers .I never intended to change these speakers, but after finishing I am glad I did.The bass is deep and fills the room without being too boomy and the detail I am getting from the avolti horns, with the alk crossovers and de-120-8 tweeters and bms-4592nd midranges are the best I have had in my system.I have switched back between 3 amp combinations line magnetic lm-126i ,inspire sep power amp and lp-3.a preamp and Primaluna Prologue Premium preamp and power amp. Each setup has it strong points.the Inspire pieces have a more open sound,th Primaluna is dead quiet and more dynamic and I am still playing the line magnetic and trying to decide the outcome on it.My wife is getting tired of hearing the same tracks over and over, but I tell her that is they only way I can really tell which sounds the best.Sorry to run on and on.
  21. I changed the wire first and then I made the other changes at the same time, changing the wires got me excited enough to make the other changes and I am more than pleased with my results.
