  1. Chris has talked about the new MINI DSP at $200 as being pretty good and at that price many can afford to time align now.

    Super MWM

OK this is a call for help. I have the 402's and S-MWM's sounding great but I suspect there is more to be found. My internet is so lousy, thanks you crap heads running ATT, that I could not even upload a 2.6mb file to Claude much less share screens and let him run things. SO I am back to needing someone who knows how to use REW and a Umike and the Xilica to do final tweaking. Doing things over the internet is just not possible here as amazing as that may be to many of you. Willing to drive and have REW loaded and ready to go on a laptop I can bring back with me. Yes I know that does not help set my system up but if I could at least be trained on what to do I can take it from there.
  3. I have had a chance to hear the older 1132's and their phase plugs and also hear some 1132's I had reworked with new current production phase plugs and I have no idea what Roy did but there is a clear improvement. This was done on the 402's + S-MWM's back to back and the new ones stay.
  4. I moved mine without additional bodies. All you need is a pallet jack or forklift
  5. OK I must be missing something here. The 1132 goes to 18khz and is admirably suited for two way systems based on my personal experience. It also has no apparent problems crossing over at 500 or 450hz. So why are some of you saying this is the wrong driver for this purpose? All I can tell you is the buyers for those two way KPT-456's with 1132 drivers and those who have heard my 1132 + K-402 on MCM 1900 MWM bins and the S-MWM's are in awe. Ziggurat got a great combination with that 1132 and K-402 as far as I am concerned and based on personal experience.
  6. Well I can't find what made me think the 1132's were offered as stock alternatives nor who I talked to regarding Jubilees that got me to thinking that. What I can say though is on top of KPT-456's and MCM 1900 MWM bins and on top of my S-MWM bins the 1132 + 506 or 402 horns sound great but as you say these are not exactly home audio production. But that in itself is an interesting comment as some of us are finding the headroom on pro gear far surpasses the home owner audio in quality of output and is that not what it is all about?
  7. Quantum leap indeed and once you hear it nothing else ever quite measures up.
  8. Hey Dean there was lots of public discourse but it was face to face and no anonymous keyboard warriors. Outside of this forum I am going back to those days more and more. You see people eating out and the whole family sits there with their dumb smart phones and no conversation. Go to a tractor pull and same thing.
  9. My vote is yes there is no science or methodology needed to build amps. If you have proper empathy with and can emote with your audio device well you can become an audio synergistic village of man and electronics melded into something that surpasses mere technical abilities and methods. How you feel in relationship to your amp will produce much more as your feelings guide you in ways that empirical methodology never could to superb sound.
  10. I have also been wondering about using the peizoelectric properties of hydrothermally grown quartz crystals. You could take a small diamond lapidary blade and cut to length and use them under every capacitor and I bet it would eliminate any ESR. I have not researched this but they have amethyst and citrine and clear colors. The Amethyst would have iron atoms in the crystal structure as this is what gives it it's color in addition to the piezoelectrical properties which might be a real game changer. For instance you could slice up one of these https://www.dhgate.com/product/20mm-thickness-hydrothermal-quartz-rough/453208956.html and underlay dozens of capacitors. I am not certain how you would align them for best effect but maybe if you marked them as you cut you could keep the crystal lattice aligned relative to each other for best effect.
  11. Please add the super large size if you really care how it all sounds. http://www.machinadynamica.com/Machina31.htm
  12. Good man and always go for the best I say!
  13. Coytee the only current info I find shows three way Jubilees so maybe the two way is not an option anymore. The three way shows a 402 and 510 horn set on top. Two way was an option not to long ago though. A passive crossover on my MCM1900 bass bins and 402 horn did sound really good so yes they will work but not as well as actives.
  14. The 1132's ARE the current two way system drivers and if you look at the Cinema line you will see that. I have 1132's on 402's for my two way system and they are stellar performers. You are going to have to go the electronic crossover DSP bi-amp route to make them really sing though. Those are most definitely not old stock.
  15. It all depends on what gage wire is used for the amp build.
  16. Moray clarified rotation I believe. I have probably gone through 10 sets of Chorus I's and II's now and ALL of them had real improvement with recapping. One other thing to check I forgot to mention is see that the magnet where the diaphragm voice coil goes is concentric with the magnet. If your magnet has shifted for some reason you need a new driver. I am thinking rotation will solve your problem though.
  17. OK try this. I ordered a set of Ti tweeter ones from Bob and put them in a set of K-792's. For some reason I decided to run a sweep on them and one was great the other one barely audible. Well heck brand new so whats up? There were three detente knobs on the driver and I remember reading about guys who used a sweep generator to dial diaphragms in just right so I thought all i can do is rotate the bad one 120 degrees and see. Absolutely nothing and then I rotate it again and perfect and the two match by ear. I don't know which one was eccentric and maybe both were but rotation solved the problem. Perhaps this will work here too.
  18. Yeah I am thinking hard about trying these out on the S-MWM's first. See now you want me to buy two sets of 15C's don't you. Go on you might as well admit it.
  19. Those 15" spacers are small enough for me to cut on my mill which I will have a go at doing when the 15C's you and Claude forced me to buy arrive.
  20. Say speaking of "you guys" how come you guys are always trying to spend "our" money eh?🤑
  21. Jason are you fabricating the spacer or do you know where to buy one already done? You guys have talked me into trying these 15C's on my current LSI two piece rebuild project. I can sell the old K-43's for more than these will cost if they do all you guys say they will and I have no reason to doubt.
  22. Good to hear and how many hours do you have on the DE-120's? They are nice drivers when fully broken in. That bigger lens cavity ought to help a lot too.
  23. Great misleading comment. Based on manufacturing output and the quantity of pollution generated to do so the USA is far more efficient and less polluting. So things are getting better here and worse there even though our output is rising fairly fast once again. Perhaps total output might be the reason for your assertion we are the third worst but per person per man hour of work and product produced we are way below third. Prove me wrong. You want to save the environment bring manufacturing back here.
  24. No one knows preccisely and unequivocally why things really happen. No one could measure accurately until the advent of satellites worth a flip so good data generation has been around a very short time and please inform me again how accurate long range weather forecasting is? Then of course there are well documented instances of fraud on the data collection by those who get grants by crying the sky is falling. It would be much easier to believe if the sky is falling crowd were not so eager to take things from everyone while flying around in great big private jets and living in 10 different large houses and using specious lists of "concerned scientists" as front men. Funny how so many concerned celebrities have beach front dwellings when the world is going to end in 12 years. Again. Will it be warming or cooling depends on what is getting traction not what is really happening.
