  1. Done and they have been built and in active use for months now. They are big and awesome sounding. Those are the plans. The only error on them is one of the 1" x 1" corner pieces is short and I never fixed it. All the rest is right.
  2. Yup the 600's have the portability for sure.
  3. Better than that build a set of Super MWM's and replace the mid and tweets with a 402. These came in a buy and not for personal use. They are in perfect condition and for sale.
  4. Yup fat finger but it got past the onerous censor so for posterity I have to leave it there. Hope the REAL grammar cop does not catch me🤣
  5. Wow page 107 on the thread that won't die! OK my contribution today is "MDF MDF rah rah rah, pro gear sucks pro gear sucks sis boob bah!" 🥳
  6. B&C has some new stuff I am very interested in. I am getting samples of two 2" throat compression drivers and one 1,000 watt woofer good from 40hz to 2KHZ with a 100db efficiency. All are supposed to be very good and I have some projects in mind. The idea of a 1,000 watt woofer boggles my mind when I think of the prodigious output from the KPT-456 which has two 15" woofers but "only" 800 watts combined output.
  7. Mine is I turn mine on only when I am driving somewhere and I do NOT buy those things for anyone as gifts. Especially grand kids.
  8. I would be interested in your definition of extreme right wing and does extreme left wing exist in Europe? What flavor of Kool-aid do you prefer with your unelected leaders in Brussels? Not that I want to be judgemental. Does extreme left wing have any budget besides the EU government and leaders and all the network news and colleges that teach this and schools that do the same? Or is extreme left wing now the defacto governing class with the sad results as recorded throughout history soon to arrive with the budgets of whole nations behind it. "Animal Farm" on steroids and you get to be there even if you don't understand that. Social media is the only tool left that the extreme left has not taken over and subverted over there as far as I can see and Brussels is busy trying to end that too.
  9. Yes I think it is the larger than K-77 tweeter so it should handle more. Don't know which exact tweeter it is and it seems records for the KP-250 are pretty spotty so some are not documented that I can find. My first time seeing this crossover for KP-250's and I thought I had seen them all by now. If I have time to do other things besides Boneheads class I have thought about swinging by to meet you if you are up to a visit.
  10. You mention moving them around a few times. While not a jubilee something like the KPT-456 is really good sounding if you can find one and is often made to be moved around. While not as good as jubes it is still better fidelity then the vast majority of listeners have ever heard.
  11. That Zener is IN2973B for your records.
  12. Thanks Bob that's the one in question and you answered my main question. One crossover had the 4uf cap from the autoformer to the + input terminal and the other one did not. I had never seen a cap just floating in air like that and figured someone had done something after the fact but apparently it is factory.
  13. Yes I am recapping but I wanted to make sure the extra cap added in was not supposed to be there, which I have decided is the case. Plus this one has a set of Zener diodes in it which does not show up on any schematic I have seen and they are from Klipsch done that way. Measuring is not the problem here it was just seeing a crossover type I had not seen before and wanting the schematic for it.
  14. HEY you did not ask where the S-MWM rates in the shootout heh-heh-heh. I can tell you that too.
  15. Will do. One thing I have never seen is ESR specs for caps on these old crossovers. I assume with manufacturing improving over time today's tolerances are better and I have no way of knowing what those old Mylars values were new. I will take a nice cup of coffee though and you can keep that other stuff.
  16. Bump for the 2.5A and needing this to recap.
  17. I have to disagree with you on good to go. Leaking or not ALL the old cans and Mylars I have measured with a B&K 885 meter clearly show high ESR even if the capacitance is in spec. I have no idea what manufacturing specs were back then regarding ESR but compared to todays caps, even the cheapo ones, the old ones are much higher. They may still sound good but not as good as with new caps.
  18. Thanks John but that is not the one. This particular crossover has Zener's on it.
  19. I thought I had this but I guess I don't. I need a schematic if anyone has one as I have a pair to rework and there are problems so I need some good information.
  20. I am not going anywhere but it looks like I really need to get a web site going. Everyone who gets these likes them but I don't ask people to give me glowing endorsements so whatever they say they do. I appreciate kind words when ever they show up though and thanks for your's.
  21. Did you break it or buy it cheap?
  22. Hmmm maybe this is machinist modeling clay.
  23. Forgot to answer this. The first cuts are on the bottom half where the tapped holes are and these cuts are maybe 1/6 the cut time for the whole piece so if I break a tap the majority of the work is yet to be done. I am going to try form taps soon as a machinist friend of mine says they use these and rarely break taps. Plus cleaner threads and no chips in hole and inherently stronger to since the threads will be work hardened. Sounds like the way to go.
  24. I have been told twice this week that there should be a radius on the wood at the mouth of the horn and preferably 1/2" at least. I did that with the set I rebuilt into 25mm Baltic Birch as a two piece in the bass bin mouth. It was clearly better than this set is. Now there was more than one variable between the two sets I still wonder what effect the rounding had and if it is worthwhile pursuing from now on. A question I am taking to Roy next month for sure.
