  1. I wondered about your polarity earlier, but the way you further describe the condition, it is most likely a room mode bass null at your listening position. I suggest you start by placing the speakers up on tables or chairs and listening with Audyssey turned OFF.
  2. I think many other forum members would also have suggested the same thing earlier with more of the details upfront. Bass null problems are sometimes difficult to express and understand.
  3. Have not done anything different with my stereo recently. Sometimes I like to go out to places where I just hear a soft breeze through the leaves, or some birds chirping.
  4. You have standing waves that are cancelling the bass. You need to change something about the relationship between the speakers and the shape of the room.
  5. The smaller nearfield speakers may have more distortion at the same comparable output level, therefore will be annoying to the people in the other rooms. The output from the rear firing port aimed at the wall is usually not good for people trying to fall asleep in the next room.
  6. Low cost wires are always a weak link and prime suspects. Then you involve laptop hardware and the various software programs with very complex structures, where the slightest interface glitch for a single command can cause headaches. Combine those and create some puzzling outputs. Glad you fixed yours.
  7. Have you tried a different connector cable?
  8. Just looking at pictures of the new Cornwall IV makes me happy.
  9. I can read it now. On my display, it now shows as white text in black highlight bars. As for you insurance question, the company will cover just about anything you are willing to pay them to insure, it then becomes a matter of what that cost is worth to you.
  10. The old invisible text technique developed by a secret spy agency.
  11. Am I missing something when I look at your original post?
  12. That is true. So the test on a laptop is to go to Settings, Sound, Device Properties, Advanced, and click on TEST. That should output a short Left to Right jingle.
  13. red/white RCA jack on the other ends hooked up to Passive Pre (volume control) So you are unplugging your phono and its pre-amp from your Passive Pre? Just search for a song and try some free online music.
  14. If yes, then it may be that the REW software is trying to output an HDMI signal path into the 2 channel of your laptop, and so the left and right are getting mixed together?
  15. BMS does publish a crossover frequency. I hope to get some 4592ND drivers some day and I will be inclined to follow the manufacturer's recommendation. I have always considered one the main benefits of DSP is the precise crossover settings, to reduce the possibility of IM distortion caused when a driver gets input with signal beyond its useful audible range, especially when the power level is high. I also recognize the important work that @Chris A is doing with timing, phase response and minimum crossover effects, and I believe his suggestions will result in the best sound from a home audio system built up in similar fashion to his fantastic system.
  16. When you play some music from your laptop thru this cable into your stereo, do you get normal left and right sounds?
  17. I wondered about opening the driver and pushing the screen from the inside, but I am guessing that the diaphragm wires are soldered to the terminals, and that even if I unsolder it, there might also be a phase plug in the way.
  18. Advice for beginners; please don't get confused by all the sarcasm on the internet.
  19. Mine must be in the "others" category! I just pulled on this screen with a small hook and it did not budge. When I shine a flashlight into the opening, the screen looks almost transparent.
  20. Enjoying a show from front row center places me at about the same distance as when I listen to my home speakers. I can't claim a qualified A-B comparison, but it does sound really good when listening to my Klipsch speakers afterward.
  21. I have not heard these yet, but logic leads me to think that the upgrades are worthwhile improvements, and if Chief bonehead says they sound better, then I believe that they sound better.
  22. That looks like it should be fairly easy to repair, after you do a dry run with your clamping method and you get a little practice with your epoxy on some scrap materials. Wearing some disposable latex or nitrile gloves is recommended.
  23. I think active DSP is a great idea. Your question is a good one, but do you remember the self-powered, active 2-way speaker that Klipsch exhibited at CES 2017 called The Fifteens. Forum members praised its good looks and new treble horn, with most of the commenters saying they would prefer an old-fashion passive version.
  24. I had the pleasure of visiting some beautiful people in their cool looking house. Here is a picture of their piano.
