My favorite times were Daddy-pitch (7-8's) when a 40-35 score was NOT uncommon. Then you go to kid-pitch (9-10) where the score could be 12-10 with two hits (LOTS of walks!). At 11-12 it really is real baseball. BTW, if you are allowed to lead off, steals are automatic, unless you are playing on Pony League fields where it is further than little league distance. I will also tell you that at the 12 yo level, the catcher is the most important player on the field. Not the pitcher, not the SS. It's where I want my smartest player. That's because he is handling the ball on EVERY play, and what he does, and even MORE importantly, what he DOESN'T do can lose ball games. The last thing you want is a catcher throwing the ball all over the place allowing base runners to get un-earned bases on every over-throw. Do not take ANY of this time for granted, and take lots of pictures. About 90% of kids are done with baseball forever after little league. +++ I didn't comment on your post about your kid's great game, but I followed it and I love hearing those stories. The potential for several "beat downs" is a real threat for Texas. Time will tell.... But why? What has happened to them? I can see them having the occasional off-year, but there is NO WAY they shouldn't be competitive, considering all that home-grown Texas talent they have available at their beck and call. They have the financial means to buy the best coaches possible, and I've never seen their facilities, but surely they have top-of-the-line everything. What is wrong with Texas?

It's a good day to be a West Virginian. I bleed blue and gold, but my wife went to Marshall, so it's all good. Marshall got some top 25 votes in the latest AP poll and they're predicted to go undefeated. As long as Marshall keeps winning and of course the teams above them lose, they should move up slowly but steadily. WVU will play tonight vs Towson, which features an extremely impressive logo. Would you believe that WVU actually got 7 points in the AP Top 25 Rankings by NOT getting crushed by Alabama last week? Alabama of course, lost points for not beating us bad enough.

Let me summarize, to see if I understand correctly: Light and Dark, matched L/R, and both have the crap piezo drivers, replacements ordered. Light sub has a crack in it. Black: All drivers work good, XO is within specs. The squawker had some liquid on it, but once it dried, it was fine. This LS sounds great. +++ I'm also curious what you are going to do about the 3 XO's. They all look as if they are very similar in spec, and as soon as you get the new Light/Dark tweeters, they will all 3 spec out about the same. I would think if you had to upgrade all 3 networks that would be very expensive.

I would be cautious about putting a LARGE non-shielded speaker in front of an old CRT TV. The powerful magnet can cause the TV screen to magnetize. You can see all the colors in the edge close to the speaker start to discolor. My CF-4's (2 12" woofs) did that to my 36" CRT TV when I put the speakers too close to the TV.

Dean, I believe you. The posts I read were what somebody SAID PK had said, so it's no wonder I didn't interpret an anecdotal story correctly. And I did ask what "zip chord" was, I didn't know. I was told that it was like lamp wire. I sure don't know the difference. Consider my perspective; I've never tried and tested every cable out there, and as you know there are a lot of claims being made. I do my research, but I almost always come back to taking recommendations from people I have learned to trust as expert, or least very knowledgeable. Dean, a perfect example is the Supra 1 you referenced. The first thing I did was Google it, to learn more. There is a well-known troll who has plagued the CL in the Columbus/Cincinnati markets for a long time on a regular basis, and low-ball pricing for Klipsch is part of that spam. I'm thinking the usual lead-in is Klipcsh (generic) for $100, and of course, there is no Klipsch, he wants to sell you something else. Regular CL readers are known to post and warn others of the fake Klipsch ad, as it really burns people up. I can't say if the ad referenced is the same troll. Marion Ohio is about a half hour north of Columbus, and is NOT how the troll usually operates. Caveat emptor.

I personally find it a little odd (suspicious) that someone advertises some items for 1200 bucks and there is no picture, and no model numbers. Somebody hip enough to have some decent equipment is surely smart enough to know any buyer is going to want to know what they are getting for $1,200. Hmmm...

Minor thread drift; A question for the Cable Guy. Is solid 2-wire telephone cable any good for speakers? +++ A member of another forum got p.o.'d at the cheap cable he had been getting, so he wrote to all the cable manufacturers in the US and asked for samples. The gauge seems small though. I was thinking of the "old school" telephone wire, which was solid and quite thick. The new stuff is stranded and very small. As for your "Kord" wire, that's stranded, not my favorite. Works in some systems but nothing I have sounds good with stranded. At 3 bucks a foot Type 2 is hard to beat. I think PWK was fond of plain old cord, like from a lamp, but I would guess there are more options now than in the Old Days. I'll check out the Type 2 stuff, as you suggest. Thanks for the heads-up. Edit: I just saw the Type 2. The phone wire I referenced is one pair instead of 2 pair, not twisted, but it looks very much like the same gauge as the Type 4. I was very pleased with how my Mountaineers played. You wouldn't know it by the stats, but the defense is 100% improved. If last year's WVU played that great Alabama team from this year, they would have beat us 63-3. I think WVU has improved into a mid-level team, up from basement level 4-7 last year where we just got killed by the good teams. I don't know if that improvement will translate into W's because they play in the Big 12, a monster conference this year. We shall see, but the future is looking bright to this otherwise pessimistic fan.
