  1. So for my Cambridge soundworks psw1 master and slave subs, and my definitive technology powerfield 18 sub that rests on hardwood floors, this would be a good idea?
  2. I've used the Watco Rejuvenating Oil on my belles and it worked wonders. It really brought life back to the veneer from a dull finish.
  3. And definitely get both rebuilt, it will do wonders for both of your speakers. The caps on the crossovers are old, replacing these with new caps will bring new life to your speakers. Bob Crites is awesome!
  4. This thread took a turn. Jason, are you saying that the subs you built are so strong, that when you play loud deep bass, there are no vibrations that transfer from the cabinet to the floor through the feet?
  5. I didn't think the purpose of this was to prevent walking around. I thought it was to prevent the vibrations from going through the floorboards, walls, etc because they are sitting directly on the floor. Sent from my SM-G920V using Tapatalk
  6. I figured I would start a new thread on this. I did a search and couldn't find a dedicated thread on this. I have read a lot on decoupling subwoofers lately and I am interested to try it. I want to make my own so they fit my subs perfectly. I know to use mdf, but what is the best foam to use underneath? I have seen people say open cell, others said closed cell, etc. So I came to the experts. Thanks
  7. Maybe add another sub section (like the alerts section) where someone could make a new thread asking if someone was traveling from point a to point b anytime soon.
  8. He meant to say run for your life. As most of us know we are suffering from a plague here called upgrade-itus. I heard rumors that the CDC is secretly working on a cure for this epidemic, but the only true way to be sure you don't get this is to avoid contact with known carriers. Please do not take this to mean they are indeed working on a cure. I certainly don't want to be the person to spread false hope to those who are infected or who have family members who are suffering with it. If you would like more details you can try to contact the CDC yourself. They have blocked my number, and have banned me from the premises. I even tried to volunteer myself to be quarantined for study and they sent me away. If you do find facts regarding this or any study which may be of help, please post that information publicly here. We all need to know. We are desperate to know. Thank you in advance Craig I think our wives are working on setting up a foundation for this disease to get funding to come up with a cure. I heard there is a walk-a-thon and a 5k run next month
  9. Yea, me too, but they are too big and heavy to easily do by myself, and convincing the wife may be a bit harder.
  10. I have a set of these, how do you decouple the sub? I have never heard of this. Like I said, I used a soft and fluffy bath towel that I folded up into a square about the size of the subwoofer. There are products out there that are specifically designed for this, but I had this bath towel to use so I used it and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if I am getting the exact same results that one would get from a specially-designed product. The whole idea is to find a way to prevent the subwoofer's cabinet from vibrating the floor. The name of the game is "isolation". With the subwoofer sitting directly on the floor, it's coupled with the floor. So, the term most widely used is "decouple". Sorry, I didn't realize that was decoupling a subwoofer. It sounded more technical than just that (thought it involved working on the amp or something).

  12. Thanks, I'll check it out
  13. When I got my belles, they were lacking in bass because I had it hooked up to a home theater receiver. I even started thinking I had a bad pair of Crites crossovers. Once I hooked them up to a 2 channel receiver, they sounded amazing.
  14. The "s" in the serial number means 1978

That's how I always bid on Ebay items, wait till there's about 1 minute left. But someone usually places a bid if it's priced right, and these are. Plus a lot of people use robots to bid for items with about 10 seconds left on the auction.
  16. Let's make a deal In the words of Peter Griffin, "come on...come on"
  17. I don't know the size of my living room off hand (I'll check later). I have hardwood floors, 8 ft ceilings, sheetrock walls. My system is all put together, I just figured there was a way to test the frequencies. I'm not aiming for a particular frequency goal, just wanted to know what it was. I tried using REW with not much luck. I would play frequencies labeled 28hz (for example), and the sounds came out of my klf30s and not my subs (klf30s only go down to 36hz). Not sure if this problem is the program, my laptop, my receiver, or all of the above.
  18. This is in my home theater setup. I'm running a 7.2.4 atmos setup. I was curious to know how low the sub goes in my room.
  19. I have a definitive technologies powerfield 18 subwoofer. I am curious to know how low the frequency goes down to. I always read how you guys are getting to the teens and twenties in hertz, but I have never figured out how you know what exact frequency your sub is playing and where it cuts out. I believe I need an spl meter, but I'm not sure which to get. Hopefully someone has a subwoofer running for dummies guide or something. Thanks
  20. Do you need to put in the audessey mic to run the setup?
  21. Read the article and look at the pictures. I'll give you a hint, it's a mono speaker for the unborn baby.
  22. Is your turntable really close to the speakers? It sounds like the bass frequencies are causing the needle on the turntable to go nuts.
