  2. The way I see it and this in "my opinion" is that there seems to be some questions with some intended snarkiness or confrontation...challenging in a way
  3. Agreed...of course my view may be skewed being a lifelong Patriots fan......But I don't see it as a collapse by Atlanta but just a huge effort by the Patriots by both offense and defense. I mean 31 unanswered points....unbelievable!!!
  4. Are you in Boston proper or the suburbs...I'm about an hour west of the city and could possibly make a trip out that way next week if you haven't resolved it The muted soft sound reminds me of a turntable issue I had before a few years ago. Can you tell us what your turntable setup is with cartridge? Can you take a picture then post the back of your amp with everything connected
  5. If you look at the center veneer panel, they may not be a perfect match as in the same exact pattern but they both have that "spear head" type figuring in the center of each panel
  6. Have you used this turntable before? Is it a MM Cartridge or MC?
  7. Something is definitely wrong....I have II's and they are not like that at all. Have you tried other speakers with your Scott to rule out any issues with your receiver?
  8. Thanks, I'm hoping they sound great as the songs I listen to gravitate towards mid bass detail more so than lower bass....I tend to focus in on bass guitar quite a bit when I'm listening. Since my speakers average about 4-5 hours a day I'm hoping I can get a good feel after a week or two
  9. Thanks for posting this.....I'm about to try some Eminence Kappa 15c's in my LaScalas today that are new and I'll make sure to give them some time before I make a decision
  10. i'm hoping to do a similar test in the next week or so. My brother in law has a brand new set of Kappa 15C's that came with some Chorus II's he bought as extras. He says he has no real use for them so I am going to try them in my LaScalas which have K-33's in them. I'd like to hear the mid-bass difference I keep reading about. I also have a set of Crites cast that are going into my Khorns whenever I can wrap that project up. I'm hoping I like the Kappa's
  11. I just checked out a little of all of those...different for me for sure, but I'll give it a shot tonight. this is a recent one i started listening to, thanks to my wife....great for acoustic and harmonies ...I stream it through Tidal
  12. ^^^^^When playing Black Cow I usually turn up the volume a little louder than normal before I start the song. The song starts so powerfully it never fails to give me a little jolt when it kicks in
  13. That's great..I'll have to try some of that out. I actually am a fan of Chick Corea. I was late to the game with him but really started listening to him in the late 80's early 90's when Dave Weckyl joined up with him in his Elektric Band and then later the Acoustic Version....Weckyl on drums and Patitucci on upright bass was amazing.
  14. That is funny....never thought I'd get another person with 2 of the same songs.... I really enjoy listening to these songs, and don't try to over analyze them while listening but for me when I listen to Black Cow especially I know whether I like the setup or not....gotta love Steely Dan
  15. ^^^^^ I'll have to check these out. Part of this thread is selfish as sometimes I get bored listening to the same songs I always have in my set list....Trying to broaden my horizons I figured there would've been a thread on this before but couldn't find it.
  16. I'll tell you, I really love the looks of the wide K5J's....that was my major appeal when I first saw them. I'm sure I will be running them for quite a while. I have a third solo decorator Khorn in the garage that needs a couple of parts. Not sure what to do with it? Mono setup? Sell it? Build the top hat section and turn it into another "B" Style. I would love to restore it but I honestly think it would never get used.
  17. Trying to get some ideas for what others use test new setups/speakers....Aaron gave me a great song today to try....typically 3 of my go to's are Black Cow-Steely Dan Into the Mystic-Van Morrison Gravity-John Mayer These aren't meant to be "Critical Listening" Test Songs...Just fun songs that you know well
  18. So I am in the middle of restoring my 57' Khorns and hope to be done in a week or two. In the meantime I am using my LaScalas in the corners reserved for the khorns. My initial plan was to move the LaScalas to another room or use them in a home theater setup but I really really love the sound of them and want to keep them in my two channel room. I know I can fit them flat along the wall sitting inside the khorns but was thinking of putting them right in front of the Khorn bass bin. Has anyone tried this? Have pictures of what it'll look like etc? Any negatives for the sound? I know aesthetically it might come out into the room a little far and it will be visually blocking some of the Khorn? I've been googling for pics but haven't found one yet. Just curious if anyone has had any experience with this or recommendations?
  19. I've yet to try an st-70 but I have a set of Will Vincent Mark III's and I love them.....I had them the same time as my McIntosh MC60's and I think they sounded every bit as good, in fact a/b-ing them I had a couple people blindly pick the Mark III's over the McIntosh. Of course, Will V. did do the restoration/upgrades
  20. ^^^^ I don't know a lot about Home theaters as I'm setting up my first real one now, but is it true that the rear surrounds don't actually have a lot of info coming through them?
  21. Aaron....I think you should just try running them with the Emotiva. I'm sure that will be more than enough power. If you want to try another amp that seems to work well with Klipsch. I have a Crown D-75a that I just picked up for future bi-amping of my khorns. That'll be a while off though. Won't be till I get an active crossover
  22. ^^^^^^I'm glad I sent you that text about the Jubilees in the Garage Sale thread the other day......but I never thought you would pull the trigger so quick, lol......You are helping to keep this economy going for sure.
  23. Will do...I had some bubbling in spots of the veneer that just wouldn't stay down. I had to slit the veneer with a razor blade at the bubble and feed some glue in there with a butter knife....Seems to be holding now. Here is one pic with one of the small sections dyed black.....I'm sure a lot of you are like why in hell is this guy putting a nice mahogany veneer on there and then staining it black. Short answer is, I really like Black Speakers
  24. maybe an unconventional way to to keep both sheets of veneer flat overnight
