  1. Just horrible! Brought back memories of science class and all it's elements. Arrghh! Run.. Actually good job.
  2. Nope. Don't care for metal cones/woofers. That's why I'm asking. I don't like their current metal speakers cones. Too bright, to much ring to them. Imho. But it's cheaper to stamp some aluminum than produce some woven carbon fiber or Kevlar cones.
  3. Digging the fifteens. Have to give them a listen. Gotta ask, do the RF's have metal cones?
  4. Happy New year!! 2017! Woohoo. My goal this year is to reach that damn pie. Need to lose a few pounds first.
  5. Which I don't understand. TB hard drives are not expensive $50? That would take a some time to fill.
  6. Agreed. Truth be told I'd rarely ever listen to my system that loud. My dream system would be the Pioneer 2401's with two 15" woofers each http://audio-database.com/PIONEER-EXCLUSIVE/speaker/model2401twin-e.html Although a much cheaper alternative would be what you suggested with dual Klipschorns and Belle's as center. However with 30'+ ceilings and an open loft any speaker would be hard pressed to pressurize that living room. It would take enormous speakers. But bass shaking, foundation rattling, body seizure type bass? Yes, it can be done.
  7. The guru on top of the mountain has started the long process of restoring this behemoth receiver. Going to enjoy watching.
  8. Spot on. Merry Christmas and my your cheer be warm & bright on these chilly holiday nights.
  9. Rsvrman If your in my neck of the woods feel free to drop me a pm and have a listen to some Belle's. It's a humble set up but easy to listen to. Cheers.
  10. Idea! Just send this to me unassembled and I'll save money! Yeah! Oh wait...... I have a hard time keeping track of two screws......carry on.
  11. Although I didn't go with Bob in the end I'll say he was professional and courteous in his reply with my newbie questions. Truly someone who wants to help people get on the right track with their "new" gear. That's what makes this fun.
  12. Now if Klipsch makes this exact model but with horns, I'll be hooked. No reason they can't. Seems like a natural fit with all the Klipsch speakers we have.
  13. Tempting but I'm really, really happy with my Belle's. Good luck to anyone getting these https://sacramento.craigslist.org/ele/5927184469.html P.S. Don't mind helping anyone needing a little muscle if your local. Love to hear these.
  14. So today the wife & kids were gone for a bit so I had a little time to myself. Decided to see what these Belle's could do. I've read about Klipsch "pressurizing" a room or one could feel the body & air around self vibrate. I wasn't ready to call B.S. yet so I decided to cautiously test that theory out. I had some domestic duties to do like fold laundry in another room and that's down the hallway around the corner where our laundry room is. Turned on Google play to easy jazz station and left it on a good volume to hear what music would catch my ear. Lot's of misses but one particular tune came on that immediately got my attention. Actually my feet was the first to get the attention then my ears. Autumn leaves by Chris Sidwell The concrete was sending out small vibration throughout the foundation! It wasn't even loud but the vibration was noticeable. I put down what I was doing and made my way to the living room. Wow, that's some serious cello. I turned it up and was pleasantly surprised. The next song Summertime by Mark Maxwell was just the ticket. I turned it up and the meters on the Realistic 2100D was jumping to 10 watts. Standing there my body was being shook with bass and there was bass all around me bouncing off the wall behind and hitting my back. All this as many of you have said "effortlessly". I was just thinking this was on Jazz and not rock & roll! Unbelievable experience.
  15. Thanks. Yup, I sure was. Here the gent had it for 30+ years, saved even more years before that and TWO hours in my custody I loose speakers parts. Sheesh. Too excited I guess. Take the screws out and ZOOM I'm oughta there can't wait to listen to them. Only one problem with that "plan"....
  16. Great stories. My first was actually sight. Having a NEED to have some speakers in the living room I was searching high & low for an appropriate pair to fill the cavernous room. Whilst looking at some estate sales I accidentally ran into these big boxes of speakers being shown. I immediately fell for them. What followed was a massive neurotic research of these speakers for a whole month as that was when the sale was. Could they really be that good? Ok, I trusted the reviews by many in this community. I wanted them so badly and hadn't even heard them! Come sale day I was like a kid on Christmas. Zoomed down there and was first to sign up only to be told the lady hands out numbers. I was #24. I thought there is NO WAY I'll be able to get those being so far back in line. As I entered there was a set of Belle's in the kitchen that weren't to good of shape. Minor scuffs but not what I saw in the pics. Asking if these were the ones she said "no there is another pair in the bar lounge area". My feet flew. The sight was was beautiful to behold. As I approached there was a miniature indoor riverbed trickling underneath a spiral staircase. Ascending the "quarter story" (approximately 6" ) of nine shallow stairs I was greeted with a room straight out of Frank Sinatra home. White shag carpet, danish table and wrap around white couch. In the corner was a half circle bar and next to it a full reel to reel Kenwood rack system. Set against the rock/brick painted wall opposite each other were two Klipsch Belle's. People were milling about and I thoroughly enjoyed this moment. I slowly walked over and asked if they were sold. The gentleman in charge said no. I bought them right there. Rented a U-Haul van, and took a better part of couple hours to bring them home taking back routes through residential areas and driving 15-25 mph. Normally the drive home on the freeway would have been a fifteen minute affair. Got them home and I was stunned. I couldn't hook them up! I somehow lost the screws that held down the speaker wire. I KNOW they were there when I unscrewed them. I was...in disbelief. I promptly called the uhaul guy an he told me they weren't in the backof the van. Hustling over to the sale, the ladies looked at my face and said "what's wrong". Scratching my head I told them I was missing a "few screws" which had them laughing and being older then me they assured me there's a few more that'll go in time. I was still young. We had a good laugh. Anyway, I was lucky to have located them ON the speaker wire laying on the floor where I had left them. All was well. Oh, when I finally got them turned on with a little jazz I knew I had found my speakers. I'm be proud to be the next care taker of these beautiful speakers which will stay with me forever. PERFECT jazz speakers. Thanks for the read & welcome here.
  17. I knew going into this the Realistic was not a match for the current crossovers. It's too fast & hard of a receiver. It's as if the receiver is impatient to get to the next note in the song. This is why it got soundly beat by the new old stock Sony STR 7045 and it's brother the 7055 and it resides in the garage. The Sony holds back just a little and patiently plays each note and hangs there for a second. This was verified by songs with echos such as songs with walking in a tunnel, drum sticks, snap fingers. Even my wife noticed the difference between the Sony sound and Realistic sound. Having said that the crossovers are fine. The problem yesterday lay in the streaming service Google play. A first. Slap me silly but for some odd reason that hour it decided to only stream in highs & mids on songs and the ones that had bass only came out as "bloops". It sounded like CRAP. I decided to go take a nap and on the way to work try to listen to Google Play in my car. It didn't sound too well in there either. I turned the phone off and on as well as the head unit in the car. Finally about a third of the way into my commute Google Play decided to stream in full spectrum sound. Beautiful. My entire car was shaking with mid woofers firing and solid bass. Stupid updates wrecking my phone! Came home today to test the speaker's again and Google Play seem to work properly. I also decided to play a CD which came out beautifully. The best I can describe the sound is everything is tighter more focused and it seemed a little bit more separated between the bass & the rest. Plucked guitar string sound like guitar. The workmanship on the crossovers is excellent. Each solder joint looks like a tiny dewdrops. I'm grateful to Al providing this service. If any of you are hesitating to get these crossovers don't think twice. It's as if I got new speakers! Now waiting on the low powered Sony to run the Klipsch. Just a hunch, but it'll be a better pairing. Thanks for the read.
  18. Got around to getting some air time with these. Decided to pull out the Realistic 2100D from the garage. Taking into account that the Realistic is a tad "faster" than the Sony I can tell you these crossovers are running "hot". Granted this is the first hour burn in but several things come forward very quickly from the Belle's. Everything is tighter more forward & crisp. Reminds me of Focal speakers on steroids. Warm & laid back they are NOT.My ears hurt. This is on low volume.Definitely NOT like the old oil in cans.I'll let these play out during the week give them time to burn in. Maybe 100+ hours they'll settle down.
  19. Woohoo! Received them today. A BIG thanks to Al for doing such a super job on them. They look great. I'm excited to give these a try and may pull out a receiver from one of my other rooms to hear these. Wow, wow, wow.
  20. I hear ya Rick. There's a few things I'd like back.
  21. Woohoo! Just got an email telling me they were done. Excited to get them. Probably by next Friday. Now just have to wait for my Sony to be done.
