  1. Here's a quote from Gary Reber of ''Widescreen Review'':''According to a conversation I had with a representative of OPPO, they are shutting down because of rising prices from parts suppliers, causing an unacceptable increase in the cost of production.''
  2. @Deang I hope this helps. Please Contact the Magnolia department at BestBuy. Call them direct, as their internal server goes to the BB warehouse where the 205's are in inventory. My local BB has a new 203, and can get a 205 in one week. As far as the production run, the determining factors are OPPO needing to keep parts for service, and whole units for exchanges. The suppliers are ringing oppo's neck here, and increasing the cost of new orders so severely, it has put Oppo in this corner where they want another production run of 205's, but do not want to be left paying over cost to cover future claims and long term, having parts available for all long term owners is a very good thing to have around. When the parts run dry, it really is over.
  3. I am mourning the lose of another great leader and contributor in the industry that has supported my hobby. I spoke with a rep a OPPO today, and the feeling was somber there as well. unfortunately lay-offs are coming soon. And they are not located in an area where you can "get by". The 205's are all gone, and none will be manufactured at the next production run either. All other resellers and outlets supplies have been exhausted, or are filling backorders only. Eventually a lucky few may get crossed off the waiting list. There were about 30 units of the 203 remaining at Oppo directly, and so I put in my order to help drown my sorrow in shiny new gear. I never bought a new Oppo before, but with every single HI-FI review outlet having one in their test set-up, I personally have sat on the fence looking over long enough. I already own several cheap plastic Chinese players. Regardless of price, I can live with this purchase with ease. I do not have a 4K TV, or any 4K disks, but that is not what I want this player for at this time. I have no available high speed internet 5Mb's, so streaming 4K is out, and I really do enjoy owning a library of digital media in physical form. I have personally collected approx.1000 old books in a reading room, so why not physical media? Most of my books are 100 years old, and several are nearly 200 years old. My oldest disk is less than 30.
  4. Thank you @Arrow#422 and @oldred. A very great pair indeed. My first Klipsch I just do not live in an area with a big following of this site, and I have 33 speakers at the moment, not including car or pc. Something has to happen.
  5. https://www.costco.com/Bergner-10-piece-Stainless-Steel-Cookware-Set.product.100393608.html I just bought these last week, they were the heaviest and thickest I could find, and the $100 price and return policy was just to easy to just do it, and think later. I just put a micrometer on them and they are 3MM thick just like the specs say on the Demeyere. Only in a 3 ply. Made in China
  6. The JBL room gets some new friends. L200T3 ultra rare, manufactured in 1990 only, consumer versions of the 4425 studio monitors. In the background are 240Ti's I just got a few weeks ago.
  7. Yes, if you had brown grills that were special order #20. Do you have photos, if so please post here.
  8. In my own research I found this unnoticed tidbit of information, and would like to add to the reference base with some documentation for evidence, and an example for proof. I own a pair of Klipsch Quartet with brown speaker grills. I thought they were rare in that they were special order only, but I had no idea how rare. I have only found one other instance of the brown cloth on the forums in a pair of Forte. If you have a brown speaker grill from a pair of Chorus I,II, or Forte I,II, or Quartet please post a photo for the archives. As you can see in the photo I provided below the grills are not like the black Forte II grill I placed for reference. I would say the color is not actually brown, but more of a dusty gray with drab olive green tint. The fabric thread is courser, thicker, and not poly/nylon. Possible a wool blend. I will try to contact Duracrest for the actual thread and weave used. And for the documentation I provide to you links to 3 dealer price lists showing the option being available for KG1, KG3 ,KG4, QUARTET, FORTE II, CHORUS I, CHORUS II http://images.klipsch.com/Pricelist_891001_635164927565692000.pdf http://images.klipsch.com/Pricelist_901000_635164927604848000.pdf http://images.klipsch.com/Pricelist_940801_635164927620604000.pdf It states: Speaker which feature grille cloth as standard equipment will be shipped with black grill cloth unless another color is ordered. Grill cloth for Quartet, Forte II, Chorus II are: black(19) and brown(20). Academy available in black grill. KLIPSCH HERITAGE SERIES HISTORICAL REFERENCE DATA Edit to: section 8. GRILLS TYPES & CLOTH CODES (Part-2) edit as follows Add to the list: #20 = Duracrest #20, brown, weave (Forte, Chorus, etc.) So the results would give the following VIII. KLIPSCH GRILLS & CLOTH CODES: #03 = Cane #13 = Heritage brown #15 = White/black coarse weave #17 = Duracrest, black, poly-olefin, stranded, coarse weave (Heritage only) #18 = Duracrest, brown, poly-olefin, stranded, coarse weave (Heritage only) #19 = Duracrest #19, black, poly/ nylon, flat weave (Forte, Chorus, etc.) #20 = Duracrest #20, brown, weave (Forte, Chorus, etc.)
  9. SOLD: First time ever offered for sale since I purchased them from Audio Ventures which is located in Waukesha, Wisconsin. Upgrades are all Bob Crites, specifically the B&K Sound titanium tweeter diaphram replacements, and the B & K Sound crossovers with full board replacements. Since owning them, I have discarded the original Quartet boxes I bought them in, so this pair is not available for shipping, but delivery will be considered in PM's only. If you are coming from a longer distance, send me a PM, and I will see if I can help subsidize your travel expenses. Upgrades are all Bob Crites, specifically the B&K Sound titanium tweeter diaphram replacements, and the B&K Sound crossovers with full board replacements. The cabinets are in as near perfect condition as I have seen in this series of Extended Heritage speakers. The Oiled Oak is all original, and has been maintained using Watco Rejuvenating Oil, and Howard's Feed N' Wax. The original grill fabric is the RARE special order Brown (20). This too is in top condition, with now flaws. The original factor riser bases are in great condition, and if you can detect a flaw, you have better eyes than me. All original parts are preserved in bubble wrap, and plastic shoe boxes and will be provided in the sale. I used these in mainly as my front main speakers, but the last few years, they were delegated to rear surround sound duty. I have gone through a series of upgrades and no longer can find any use for them, and see no future use for them either. Since then, I have stored them safely away in a spare bedroom. In my opinion these have a much higher value when you consider the condition, and higher WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor) due to the size and color combination that blends in better with a home decor. You could easily put them in any room in your house, including the most formal of spaces. The price I have listed is simply a reflection of the speakers, the condition, and the upgrade cost. I am loosing a substantial amount of money that I have invested in these Quartets selling them at this highly discounted price. These do not compare with the other unmolested, all original stock condition pairs you find at lower prices, so don't try it. Serious buyers can have all the photos they want. Sorry Klipsch community forums restrict photos to 2MB so the details on here will not be enough to show the level of condition. I will email the highest resolution photos I can take.
  10. I buy disks just to get atmos audio tracks. My AVR is set at dolby + DDS Dolby surround, which upgrades 5.1 to simulated Atmos. Pre-Atmos I was a DTS fanboy. I run 5.1.4
  11. My dad went, and they were covered with a sheet and the sellers said they sold very early in the day for $2400. This home was like a time capsule from 1967
