  1. That is pricey, but here in New England Klipsch Heritage speakers are pretty rare. If that were a pair I'd buy them. Now, KG4s, on the other hand...
  2. Very interesting. The clarity of the horns with the bass of direct radiators.
  3. Who the heck is buying these things? I mean, seriously? There are so many ridiculously priced speakers out there, I just not get it. Maybe I'm in the wrong tax bracket.
  4. Most likely a fast blow. Hardware stores usually stock fuses. The manual should tell you the type and size.
  5. OOOOOO... pretty..... dtel has a point - black may boost sales. Their web site sucks - I love pretty sites with no info or prices (not).
  6. I have a Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 that I am very pleased with.
  7. I'm not worried about bass. Right now, I am siting about 4 feet away. Too close. If they are too much in the bigger space, I'll reduce the mids as you suggest.
  8. Hi Bruce, I have the original autoformers. The room they are in is simply too small for them. I'll be moving them to my office which is about 3 times larger. Good idea though, I'll have to keep it in mind.
  9. Hi Coytee, I agree completely. They are actually too efficient - on my preamp, the fist volume step it very loud with these, need a pre without a stepped value control. They are very accurate - if the sound is in the recording you will hear it. I have one Flogging Molly track, "Float" that has some very subtle symbols in it - none of my other speakers can project them very well, but these do. As far as bass goes, if it is in the track, it is there. I am finding that true bass instruments sound great, computer generated bass that focuses in the lowest octave do not. I think I can live with that, especially since I know of no subwoofer that would match them well without selling off my car to buy it. I need to get these to my office an onto my Mac 4100 and see what they can really do.
  10. Yeah, what is with the amps? Wish there was more info on that.
  11. OK, so I hooked them up to the Hafler 220 with my Nakamichi 410 preamp. Nice! I can see why people complain about the lack of bass. I'll let them break in a bit and see if it gets better. My home listen room is way too small for these, so I'll not really be able to open them up until I get them to the office. They do sound different - I am used to direct drivers, this is my first pair of horns. So far, I like!
  12. OP, can you post a picture of them "stacked" as they would be to play? Curious.
  13. OK, let me clarify. It is Speakerlab, but I can find no images of a 7 that looks like that. All I can find is this:
  14. That is a screaming deal! Around here, people would be lined up for those. Khorns seem to be rare in New England. I guess when there are so many Boston based companies, there is a lot to choose from.
  15. Hmmm...I think we are looking at Speakerlab 7 parts in other cabinets.
  16. Price and location please. Also, was that a copy/paste job or what? :-)
  17. One of my La Scalas had an "E" crossover in the bass bin. No, no clue why. Anyways, anyone need one? Free, you just cover shipping. It is bone stock.
  18. Nope, not a Speakerlab 7. Tweeter look the same, but not that larger horn. Pictures of the back and the drivers may help.
  19. According to the Klipsch site, they both use a K-33-E in the newest versions. The K-33's I just ordered from Klipsch are round magnet and seems to be Eminence units.
  20. NICE!! Can't wait to see pictures.
  21. Sonos is not inexpensive either.
  22. I thought of this today - which is at the core of the question. In reality, everything depreciates at x%/year depending on the item. Th more expensive the item, the larger/faster the depreciation. I ti also an excellent point that when my LS were new, they cost something like $600 each, so, the reality is that at $1200, they stayed the same (were "free"). Good info, thanks all. My original post was not thought out very well.
