  1. Hi Thomas ... not bad, but actually a "small" system compared to some of the stuff members show off here The "black" boxes are KPT-904 Pro speakers ( http://assets.klipsch.com/product-specsheets/KPT-904-Data-Sheet-v04.pdf ) ... took the horn "off" and put it in a separate box. They are powered by my Marantz 2252B. The rest is on my AVR. The Yamaha center will be replaced next week by a Klipsch Heresy
  2. Haha ... just "slowly" add one speaker at a time
  3. Welcome to the forum Yes; go get them ... nice introduction to Klipsch speakers. Just know that you will be upgrading to bigger and better ones soon Cheers, Emile
  4. And it was owned by an old lady who never drove it hard
  5. OK; was going to build a box ... then did not like the crossover specs ... so, maybe a new crossover ... found a better one but required changing the diaphragm to an 8 ohm one ... next found out the 2" horn voice coil really is only 1" ... JEEZ Found a SINGLE 1984 Heresy on eBay. Haha Problem solved. @wvu80 ... for your database ... $225, condition ? see pics, location Texas.
  6. OK; last one to "chime" in. Had a set of KG4's which were "liveless." Put the Ti diaphragms in and was very pleased. But note; the sound will be "brighter." Even though everyone "on this thread" recommended them, think the general consensus is more like "2/3'rds YES" and "1/3rd NO." Cheers, Emile
  7. Hi @JMON ... Many thanks for the tips! Yes; would appreciate knowing the stain color you used ... will save me 12 tries Was going to leave the edges exposed ... just like my Cornwall's and Heresy's Question ... are you saying the Baltic Birch is more prone to warping than the birch veneer plywood? Many thanks, Emile
  8. Oops ... @celioguim ... welcome to the forum
  9. Play a lot of classical violin music (and opera) on my Heresy I's, Cornwall I's, Forte I's and KPT-904's ... always VERY impressed by the tonal quality of the strings Maybe it is the wine that I have "WITH IT." Cheers, Emile
  10. Tom; thanks for the reply! Yes, really like the sound of this Yammie monitor (12' woofer, 14x8" horn w/2" voice-coil). OK; that answered the first question ... found out that a 2" voice-coil requires a "smaller" throat Darn I'm in Florida ... not planning on driving up North Got my K-510 horns when I bought my KPT-904's ... LOVE them. The seller also had 6 K-402 horns ... "almost" got a pair ... just not enough space in my tv room ... plus I think my wife would have only allowed them in the garage Cheers, Emile
  11. Hi Tom! Old post, but do you still have this K-510 horn? Now the big question How did you get this horn in an Heresy cabinet? (Reason for me asking is ... have a Yamaha SM12 stage monitor as a "center," but want to put the driver and horn in a Heritage cabinet ... barely fits. But also have K-510 horns and love the sound; think they are probably better than the Yammie horn.) But ... the Heresy cabinet is only 14 inches wide (internal) and the K-510 horn is 14 5/8 inch Cheers, Emile
  12. Yes; Parts Express has a gazillion speaker gaskets. But ... 3/4 inch thick??? They must have tripled/quadrupled the gaskets.
  13. JEEZ ... you lucky guy Just paid $400 for a pair with a blown tweeter
  14. Haha ... from the ad ... Quote "very complitated design with a lot of precission woodwork" Unquote.
  15. Yeah, agree with @DizRotus ... very unlikely you will find better cabinets ... at a reasonable price. Just picked up a pair; wet sanded it with #600 paper and Watco Rejuvinating Oil. Worked pretty nice But watch out; the veneer is extremely thin Will add a couple of coats of Danish oil later. Cheers, Emile
  16. Jeez ... had an ultrasound kidney stone break-up procedure about 5 yrs ago ... never asked about the speakers
  17. @Chris A; Awesome, thank you SIR! You definitely are THE "guru!" Guess I'll try my K-510's "vertically," as soon as my wife leaves next week for a short trip ... if I do it "now" she'll get upset thinking I'm getting K-402 horns Many thanks, Emile
  18. Found some plots from @Chris A on another (old) thread. OK; these are for K-402's ... so still no clue if my K-510's would be similar. But ... just looking at the plots ... think I can live with the horns "sideways."
  19. OK; maybe a bit "off topic," but was wondering about these horns "sideways," i.e turned 90 degrees. @Thaddeus Smith has "his" turned sideways Obviously the sound field becomes "tall" and less "wide" horizontally. Any problems with that ... no clue on sound field angles / dispersion coming from these horns. Major reason for asking is that I just picked up a set of Heresy's and really have "no room" left. But they would fit on top of my KPT-904 bass bins - NEXT to my K510 horns if I turn those 90 degrees Cheers, Emile
  20. @314carpenter ; Thanks! Guess I won't staple a box together tomorrow But you are right ... "when doing a thing, do it RIGHT"
  21. Yeah ... very very impressed Way better than I expected
  22. Hi @JMON ... awesome! Thanks for the good tips Planning on building a center speaker, similar in size to my (raw birch) Heresy's. They are fairly dark, but not even close to my walnut Forte's. Think conditioner and walnut oil will get the "new" birch to that level? And ... if you don't mind ... always thought PWK used Baltic Birch, but ???? The plywood has 7 layers with very thin birch veneer. NOT Baltic Birch Wondering whether to use "this" stuff or real Baltic Birch for my center Thanks/Cheers, Emile
