  1. Well ???? Yes; bought an XLS 402 from offerup. Haha; just got a message with "seller canceled." Next found out the CF3's I was looking at are "version 3" ... the bad ones in the series Going to start on the wine early today probably at 4pm
  2. About a year ago I got a pair of KPT-904's with the K-510 horns to replace my Cornwall's. Absolutely AMAZING These speakers are in a completely different league Bass bins have dual PRO 15" woofers ... 500% better than the CW's. The horns have 2 inch drivers ( B&C 75 ) ... NOTHING in the Klipsch residential speaker line comes even close Cheers, Emile
  3. AWESOME Did most of my sailing on Hobie 16's and 18's off the beach. Loved to turn them over ... haha; close to the shore. Good memories
  4. Haha ... $1000 on CraigsList and $1100 for "us" Klipsch afficianodos ??? How nice???
  5. Hi Pal ... welcome to the forum Never owned any 280's but from their specs they seem to be excellent. OK; going to suggest a completely different approach. Try looking at a Crown Pro amp ... they are pretty cheap and IMHO sound awesome. (FYI; have a set of "large" KPT-904 speakers ... used to have a Marantz 2252B - 52 W/ch - to drive them. Switched to a Crown K1 - 350 W/ch. AWESOME; unbelievable difference. Haha, liked it so much, just bought a Crown XLS an hour ago to try with Epic CF3 speakers ) So; I would say get a good preamp (Parasound is great). Then feed the pre-outs into a pro-amp; into your 280's Salut, Emile
  6. Strange looking pair Black Too many $$ for me
  7. Hi @JRS94 ... welcome to the forum. I've got a set of Forte's AND a pair of Cornwall's on casters ... never heard any difference in sound (with the "before casters" setup. Cheers, Emile
  8. Simple solution Couple of glasses of wine, then turn it up to 100+ dB's ... haha; "what fan noise."
  9. Haha; love the K1 so much, just bought an XLS 402 ... 300wps at 8 ohms. Going to try it with a set of Epic CF-3's ... if this darned seller comes through Send him 3 "page size" emails ... all I got sofar by email from him is "walnut; 2.5" ports." Yesterday hooked up my Music Hall TT via a Nikko Beta II preamp to the Crown K1 and my KPT-904's. Never heard my TT that good Cheers, Emile
  10. Haha ... when I turn "up" my Pro Klipsch speakers they come to the house and drink our wine
  11. Almost bought a pair of (sorry ) Yamaha CW118 bass bins. Only 100 lbs, 30-2KHz ... darn; too big for my "little" stereo room
  12. Update and maybe some info for whomever Changed to RCA/XLR cables. No more clicking ... no clue, but it seems the problem went away Celebrating with a glass of wine ... it's 5pm in Bermuda
  13. His, I'm sure... His wife's, ummm NOT a chance! 😂 Jeez ... you guys are starting to "know" us Quality vs quantity
  14. Haha ... yes; but I'm cheap also If these CF3's are not "close" to Pro speakers it will be wasted money In which case I'd better just build a "bass bin" with pro 12" duals
  15. Rephrasing ... are CF3's "close" to Pro speakers? (and ... forget about the horns; have 510's for them.) Know the Forte's are not even close
  16. Congrats ... no candles but I'll open a bottle of wine for you (OK; at 5pm)
  17. Yeah ... those of us with "Pro" stuff laugh at most Klipsch "residential" speakers Just cannot find any bass bins for that small room to couple with my 510's.
  18. Tried, tried and tried Just not much "oomph" in those Forte's so was thinking of the CF3's Yes; the problem is I'm comparing them to KPT-904's in my main listening room
  19. Thanks guys OK, if they look decent enough (yummy; walnut ) I'll go on a 4 hour trip next week. Re "power" ... yes think my Marantz 1060 may not be enough ... so; just made a guy an offer on a Crown XLS402 ... 350W/ch ought to be fine Cheers, Emile
  20. Interesting thread. Thanks to all Found a set of CF3's locally (jeez ... 2 hour drive). 2.5 inch ports so they are either V2 or V3 ... emailed the seller for the serial number. Thinking of upgrading my Forte I's to these as the Forte's just do not have much bass FYI, using the Forte's as bass bins with K-510 horns crossed at 500Hz. Any thoughts? Another question ... Would a 510 horn ( 15 x 9 inch ) fit into the CF3's? Many thanks, Emile
  21. Hi @geoff. Thanks; just found some of your reviews in the "EPIC owners" thread also ... great info. Yes; love the "dual woofers" in my 904's CF3's will never get to that level, but should they would be better than the single 12" woofer from the Forte. Might not make much sense, but 2x10"squared is much larger than 12"squared Cheers, Emile
  22. Hi All, Hoping to get some more advise Using Forte I's in a small stereo room (12x12x8ft); driven by a Marantz 1060. Sounds pretty good for this setup ... of course horrible compared to my KPT-904's Found some CF3's locally (2.5inch ports, so version 2 or 3) and was wondering if this might be an "upgrade." OK; for part 2 of the question I'm complicating it a bit Playing with BOTH Forte I's AND K-510 horns (B&C 75 drivers). Using the K-510's over 500Hz and the Forte's as "bass bins" under 500+ Hz. Not much bass from these 12" Forte woofers. Was thinking the dual 10" CF3 woofers would do better Any thoughts? Many thanks, Emile Add-on ... yes; would get CF4's in a heartbeat ... but impossible to find
  23. Not sure I fully understand But ... had an Onkyo NR676 and had the same problem. About a year ago I upgraded to the RZ810 which does have full preouts. Added bonus was that it forwards HDMI channels - but only HDMI 1-3. I use the "Zone-2" out to drive a 2-channle preamp into a Crown K1 amp with KPT-904 speakers. Haha; awesome There are very good (and very expensive) AV preamps out there ... probably an AV upgrade would be much cheaper. And you could feed your 5-channel HK with it. HDMI splitter? I have split HDMI signals before and had no problem. There are HDMI to 5.1 audio "extractors" available ... example https://www.amazon.com/1080P-SPDIF-Digital-multi-channel-Decoders/dp/B01CQ8AWVA ... just no clue if they are any good. Cheers, Emile NewEgg also has some ... maybe worth a try, but ... haha; how good can it be for $40???
  24. Darn ... Guess both @CECAA850 and I "lost."
