  1. Very interesting! More information please. Crossover point(s), mid-driver, etc.
  2. That's great Gilbert. It can't be said too often. Thanks for sharing the link. I've been with Scott, our son who served with the Army in Afghanistan, when he was in uniform in airports and many people thanked him for his service. Although he sometimes seemed embarrassed, I know it means a lot to him, to other soldiers and to those thanking service men and women. I've also observed people thanking him when he wasn't in uniform, after they learned of his service. You can't thank our men and women in the service too often. The long version http://www.gratitudecampaign.org/index.php?c=pages&m=watch_full_video brings tears to my eyes.
  3. Can you borrow a sub to see if it helps? If you went directly to Khorns, the bass improvement should be there, but, you might still feel the need for a sub; some do and others don't. I've never seen or heard it discussed here, but could the djk La Scala bass bin mod (see thread http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/76770/757339.aspx#757339 and threads referenced therein) be practically applied to a Belle? I know something similar could be done, but would it work as well, would be be easily reversible, etc.? IMO, Belles are too pretty to permanently alter the appearance to gain a little more bass.
  4. If you’re interested in this issue, please go to the following thread in the Alerts section of the Garage Sale forum. http://forums.klipsch.com/forums/p/147837/1522491.aspx#1522491
  5. Do you recall the drivers on the Oris horns?
  6. Have the Jensen and Karlson been introduced to each other?
  7. Thanks for the candor. It's refreshing.
  8. I vote for the 76 pair. Sure it's a long drive, but you'll enjoy them for years. As to price, comparing US prices is of little value to you. It'd be like me asking you what to pay for a used Peugeot in Michigan; totally different market.
  9. What you describe would help, but the bracing inside the horn is more practical. It's been my experience that bracing prevents the sidewalls of the bass horn from vibrating annoyingly, even when driven by a lowly H/K 730 (25 watts/channel) at moderate levels. Trying to extend the bass through EQ would surely exacerbate the problem. I'd brace any La Scala I owned. I'd also do the DJK bass bin mod, but that's another story.
  10. Solarcarl's explanation regarding the avatar is amusing, but inconsistent with the fact that numerous versions of the doctored photo are available on the Internet. Google "dog man photo" and you'll see the same photo and others in the same vein.
  11. I agree. No one appreciates gratuitous advice from "appraisal experts."
  12. Even without an update on the exchange rate, $1,295 Canadian (or US) seems high.
  13. Bob Crites is an excellent source of replacement woofers. He might be interested in your existing inoperable woofers.
  14. Fini, It's a great idea. Serously, I thought it was an appeal recruiting potential forum moderators/administrators. Perhaps if you change "for" to "of" the gramarians in Indy will get the idea. Or, change the subject line to include a reference to member enhancement and it'll get the attention of the powers that be.
  15. I too wonder how it was veneered deep into the horn. Perhaps mirrors and a single small piece of veneer?[]
  16. I might be concerned if a noted astronomer were concerned, but not a noted "astrologer."
  17. Happy Birthday! I was fortunate to meet him in 197? It was a truly memorable experience.
  18. Double check the connections of the drivers at the balancing networks for proper and consistent polarity. Also check the speaker input connections for polarity.
  19. Eye kant deeside iph Steve iz pullin hour leggs. Eye chooze two beeleave its sarkasem.
  20. I wouldn't worry about harming the speakers.
  21. At $250 you couldn't go wrong. Enjoy!
  22. Don't let poor corners stop you. I've used them with or without enclosed backs, enclosed is better and more forgiving. I'd enclose the backs of any Khorns I owned. The improvement is significant if the corners are less than ideal. I'd still try to seal them in proper corners for the maximum result.
  23. "The other has been rebuilt non the top part with 1/2" plywood instead of 3/4"plywwod making it about two inches shorter plus has some generic horn and no crossover it has huge capicator." It's impossible to give a concise and/or useful response without more information. Such as, what would you pay?| Also, it's not clear what was done to "the other." The value of the "original" one is probably greater if left original. What woofers do they have? There's a market for the composite horn, and original drivers, but I'd rather see the one that's still whole, stay that way.
