  1. Thanks again to Carl, who saved the cabinets for me, and had some more goodies that he wanted to pass on! @carlthess40 (It was very nice meeting you...) The most interesting things were the 100W mono block amplifiers out of the large church organs, Allen Organ Co. He sold me all six of the amps that he had, and gave me quite a good deal on them. This will allow me to bi-amp the KP-3002 Pro speakers easily! (The Mrs. thinks we won't need to run the furnace this winter, just play some music through these amps instead.) You can see them in his picture here (bottom left):
  2. You all should try the picture hosting method in my signature below. Utterly easy, no size limitations, host as many images as you like, etc. etc.
  3. I certainly will. It was very nice meeting you today! Thanks for the great prices on all of your goodies!
  4. Thanks for the replies. Well, digging around eBay actually did pay off. I got a pair of Crites crossovers (inexpensively!) that will work with minor modification. No longer any need to build my own: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Crites-B-K-Sound-A-4500-crossovers-Excellent-used-coondition/283209951876?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649
  5. I've been looking around for compatible parts, and found these 2.5mh inductors on eBay. Is there any reason that these would not do the same job as the Klipsch factory models? These are roughly $15 each. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Transformer-Filter-Choke-2-5-mH-10-Amp-hammond-159ZL/222904370420?epid=5017384497&hash=item33e622c4f4:g:sSUAAOSwgBNavmh3:rk:21:pf:0 Manufacturer: Hammond Product Category: Fixed Inductors RoHS: Details Termination Style: Wire Leads Inductance: 2.5 mH Tolerance: 15 % Maximum DC Current: 10 A Maximum DC Resistance: 44 mOhms Termination: - Mounting Style: Chassis Mount Length: 4.03 in Width: 2.25 in Height: 2.63 in Application: DC Filtering Series: 153-159 Product: Fixed Inductors Type: Choke Brand: Hammond Manufacturing Product Type: Fixed Inductors Factory Pack Quantity: 1 Subcategory: Inductors, Chokes & Coils Unit Weight: 2.750 lbs

  8. My wife and I actually sat down to a movie last night (it's been quite a while since we did this on the living room system), and she was really surprised by the music. She's been a professional musician her entire life, performing as a pianist and musical director for countless stage productions, with as much of an orchestra as each show could afford. As the movie went along, she looked at me and commented about how clear the music was, and how she could hear each instrument in specific locations. She said that she hadn't experienced that with any home based equipment, ever. "It sounds like live music" was something she remarked upon. We talked about sound stages, and the Klipsch Epics being such good speakers. I happened to mention that the "Klipschorn" models were even better, and we might have to keep our eyes out for any that come available. *<;o) I think I might have another convert on my hands. *crosses fingers for some Khorns!*
  9. Holy Necro-Post, Batman! justin_tx_16 hasn’t logged into this site for a year and a half, and the original thread will hit its 17th birthday soon.

    .

I do want them, but can't make a trip to SoCal. The 3002 (rat fur) variants I just picked up from Emile are the best desktop PC speakers I have ever had. These produce FANTASTIC sound. If you are on the fence, don't be.
  11. It sure does. That's why I wanted to post them, maybe someone here would like a good deal. *<;o)

  13. Since this site doesn't have any built in mechanism for giving users feedback, I have an idea. How about adding a "Feedback" subforum, under "Garage Sale" / next door to "Alerts!"? I had a great transaction with @Emile, and wanted someplace that I could post positive feedback for him. What do you all think?
  14. There's a bit of a learning curve, and it's much more of an involved answer than most posters would want to try and type out. So here goes: https://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/crossover And part two: https://www.audioholics.com/loudspeaker-design/the-loudspeaker-crossover This will give you the basics, and you will come away with an understanding of the difference between the "B" and "B2" crossovers. You will also be able to have an opinion of your own regarding the differences in the two variants of the networks. As you can see, it is a much deeper subject than can be typed out in a simple response on a forum...
  15. The speakers will either be a 2-way or 3-way, but usually a 3-way design. One Woofer ('normal' coned speaker) for bass, one Squawker (horn) for midrange, and one Tweeter (also horn) for the high end. Use a paper towel tube, put one end next to your ear, and the other end next to the opening of the horns. It will be obvious if sound is coming out, or not. Woofers are easy to tell if they are producing sound. I really like the sound of the KG4's, it's why I own two pair. The first were given to me by my brother in law, and they are what started me on my Klipsch quest. I liked the sound so much I bought a second pair for $200 in pristine shape. Once you pick up a set, be careful when moving veneered speakers around, especially on carpet. One snag, and you can pull a strip of wood loose. Or break it off completely.
  16. If all the drivers work, it’s a decent price, I would think. Offer $175, wanting to meet near the middle at $200. I personally would pick up the Chorus II’s in Santa Cruz, a great deal at $295
  17. Fantastic pick up. /Serious Jealousy
  18. I have the distinct impression that they did not take pictures of everything. The cymbals might simply be hidden.
  19. You could do like I did, and pick up some Klipsch Pro speakers. Here's my desk now:
  20. And here I thought I was the most irregular member. *<;o)
  21. Congratulations on your new set of speakers. They are amazingly loud, even when pushed with a small amp. Anything with 100 - 150w RMS will blow your skirt up. (Okay, the bass will thump you in the chest...) I would first contact Bob Crites, and send him a picture of the back of the horn driver. He might have a diaphragm for it, or might know where to get one. Failing that, I would hit up @Dave A to see if he might have one of the drivers in his stockpile.
  22. Dave, That was the OP in this thread that said the below, not I:
  23. I am curious now. Got a measurin' stick? Are the tubes on the bottom just over 5"? Or are they under 3"?
