  1. Elden, you and the wife know how to dine high on da hog Not good for one's cholesterol/triglyceride levels tho. I like horseradish too, never tried it on fried shrooms. Mostly with raw oysters, boiled shrimp and prime rib. Horseradish will "open the sinuses".
  2. Now that is a nice deal. In beautiful walnut.
  3. Me too, nothing better with a nice juicy grilled ribeye. Mushrooms sauted in butter.
  4. Oh yes, I know you and your spreadsheet are the master reference here for used Heritage. I downloaded ur spreadsheet months ago. The LF front face appears to be flat black or something. I mean if all the drivers work and the cabs are solid, a guy could make him an offer and do quite well. Load em up and take em home.
  5. Oh, ok. Seems like I remember we did mix it with OJ at least once. Something to try and kill that nasty taste.
  6. Man, let me tell ya. Back when I was about 16 or 17, me and a local padna used to ride his ole dirtbike on the lake levee to Jefferson Downs, a horse racetrack and pastures in Kenner, LA. We'd go pick psylicide mushrooms (purple ring on the stem) out of the cowpies bright and early, especially on foggy mornings. Come home and wash em and either make this terrible tasting "tea" extract from em, or slice em up and eat em on a hamburger. You talk about trip! Best free high I ever experienced. But it made me really nauseous most of the time, def didn't want to eat while tripping. We once made up a gallon of "tea" and took it to an all day concert @ Tad Gormery stadium in New Orleans. (A GF turned me on to mushrooms first time.) We got chased out of the pasture once by a guy toting a shotgun. Never discharged it but def put the fear in ya! Good thing I finally grew up, graduated high school and got serious about life. Never touched a shroom again after probably 18 or 19.
  7. There was a report on 60 minutes just a couple weeks ago where in the USA doctors are using a one time treatment of LSD in a highly controlled environment to help people stop cigarette smoking. And some people with terminal illnesses, helps with their overall mental health. One good trip and they quit smoking.
  8. Not to mention both the Heresy 3 and CW 3s have employed Ti diaphragms in both the tweeter and squawker since 2006 and I have read a LOT of on line reviews of them and never read adjectives like "harsh" and "shrill" used to describe their musical reproduction. Reviews @ crutchfield (purchasers), reviews in other audio forums, reviews on the Klipsch product website, and reviews here on this forum. Hard to find a bad word on Heresy III period, other than the occasional limited low end extension comment. I own a pair of CW 3s and did a lot of research before purchasing a pair.
  9. And a very efficient LS packing crate at that!
  10. That's exactly what I thought. Clearly in the pics the LF cab needs some tlc, but working/all original Khorns for $1300 or less? Could be a steal.

  12. So why did Klipsch keep Ti diaphragms in the tweeter in both the cornwall and heresy 4? But went to polyimide in the squawker? Harsh perhaps to you, but that is purely subjective. Every listener has an opinion, or what they personally prefer. Just like the music itself, we all do not like the same thing.
  13. You hit the bulls eye. A free app to resize digital image files is just a couple clicks away.
  14. I wanted to share this as it may help out someone in the future. I purchased a pair of KG 5.5 from an older woman approx 4 months ago. They appeared to be gently used over the years. One of the grills had a stain on the lower portion of the grill like someone had puked on it. Maybe her large dog who was present when I went to her residence. The grills were mint other than one of em stained by puke. No fabric pulls, magnets worked fine. So first I very gently brushed it and vacuumed it, and that released maybe a third of the stain. Then I gently washed it with warm water and dish detergent mixture in my driveway, then let it dry in the sun. Didn't get all of it out so I repeated the process a second time. Still had ~ 30% of the stain there after. So I thought about it for a few days. Then I came up with the idea to spray it with some flat black paint I had in the garage. Aerosol spray can, like to paint a barbecue grill. Rustoleum High Heat flat black -- just went look at the can in my garage. Anyways, my plan was to lightly fog the region of the puke stain. So that is what I did on a bright sunny day. Going slowly on the application, just enough to camoflage or cover the stain. The end result was spectacular. You could not even tell the stain was there after drying. I sold the KG 5.5 pair a few weeks later to a guy out of New Orleans and made a few dollars in the process. He had no clue of the previous stain or my paint application. The color match was near perfect, and I did not paint the entire grill, just the lower 1/3 perhaps, no more. A light light fog to cover the stain. Feathering the paint application going upwards to blend in.
  15. Les, why do you say you could not imagine your H3s driven by SS? What tonal qualities would be undesired/objectionable? Too bright perhaps? I ask because i am simply trying to understand your opinion on tube vs SS with the H3. You sure got a killer deal on new H3s in 2012. I think the Klipsch engineers sole purpose in venting the H4 was extended LF response. Gained ~ from 58 hz to 48hz, least by the published Klipsch frequency response specs. Bottom line.......more bass generation.
  16. Eminence celebrates 50 years in 2016. I believe they supply or did @ one time Klipsch Heritage LF transducers. https://www.eminence.com/eminence-celebrates-50-years/
  17. Bingo, this ↑ is what it recommends in your manual. page 109 your sony product manual: https://docs.sony.com/release/xbr-65x850b_55x850b_49x850b_i-manual_bravia_i-manual_na_en.pdf
  18. I haven't really eyeballed the tractix port guide on the CW or H IV, as to whether they are one in the same, but like Mr Clean says they look a lot like his on his RP280F. You know they have that part readily avail "on the shelf". What I do observe is the thiele and small parameters for most any LF transducer dictate a much larger cab volume for a bass reflex cab vs a sealed unit. Depends on the specific LF driver/transducer but sometimes that equates to one and a half to three times the cab volume for bass reflex. From the comments i read here months ago the Her IV cab is like an inch taller. Also from what I have read/researched over the years, tuning for a bass reflex cab is critical, port size and cab volume. Hence the huge size of the original Cornwall cab design (1959), continuing to date. Too small a port leads to port chuffing @ high output. Eminence who makes many wonderful loudspeaker drivers here in the USA (and for many years) has a great tutorial section on how a transducer functions, T&S parameters, cabinet designs, and more. Great informative reading, I will link below. https://www.eminence.com/support/designing-enclosures/
  19. Cut a hole and splurge for a plastic port thingy I guess the good thing is you could always put a piece of tight fitting foam in there to revert back to sealed cab if you choose.
  20. Hello. Make sure the rca jacks on the back of the Sony are indeed "output" terminals and not input. Like in your owners manual or verify on line. Second is look in the Sony tv menu via the remote and see if there is a selection to turn on the rca outputs. May be a selection for external sound + tv speakers, or just external speakers. If you post your Sony model #, we can look up your manual on line.
  21. Absolutely, a precision shot. Guy teaches concealed handgun permit classes and if I remember correct, a retired LEO or military. I saw the video of it and the perp was ~ 12-20' away @ time of shot. Guy said in interview "I terminated the evil". Well done sir! One thing I failed to point out, video cameras are such a massive tool today in crime prevention or prosecution after the fact. Cameras everywhere today, crime cameras, traffic cams, cams in parking lots, ect. One aspect of a home vid cam system, be smart enough to hide your dvr or control center, in a closet or out of sight somewhere. If they steal your cam sys dvr too, oh well. Cloud based and/or real time notification/cell phone are an asset too altho I have not personally tried that technology. But a power failure ends this protection, unless you have a considerable battery BU system @ home.
  22. Absolutely. Feed and water, take to the vet, pick up their sh*t, hair and dander in the house, accidents. Large dogs = big piles of feces which must be shoveled and disposed of. I have not owned a dog in 24 years mostly because of the hair and dander in the house. Too much of a hassle @ this point in my life. I have a professionally installed home alarm system, monitored 24/7 via cell. And a couple external video cameras and a 800 lb empty weight hard plate gun safe. Common sense living and signage go a long way too. Long term power failures are my greatest threat (hurricane season and occasional severe weather), then I fall back on the gun safe, homeowner's insurance, and I always have a firearm within my reach, traveling or home. G-22 under my pillow every night. I realize I might be slightly paranoid, but I'm not going down without a fight. I have seen first hand the best of humanity, and the worst. Had an active shooter in a TX church with a freakin shotgun just a couple days ago. Armed citizen put him down with one shot to the head, 7 seconds after the shooting started.
  23. It is just flat ridiculous when you thing about it. And a few would argue they made a legendary speaker (Heresy III) worse. Bass reflex versus the former sealed cab design. Sealed cab loudspeaker designs are going the same way as the dodo bird. I believe it's a sales technique primarily. Sell the latest design improvement @ considerable markup. The latest and greatest. They know someone purchasing the new cornwall or heresy IV models have considerable resources, or deep pockets. Some peeps don't bat an eye to buy the latest. We have yet to see anyone post here boasting of their new CW4 acquisition/performance. Least I have yet to read such here. A few reviews on line yes.
  24. So are you stating you really believe cost was the main driver for Klipsch to go to polyimide versus Ti in the IV series squawker diaphragm? In a $6000 per pair of Heritage cornwall IV (retail price) , Klipsch is worried about reducing maybe $50-75 in squawker diaphragm costs? You have to be kidding right?
