  1. Light turns green, 22,000 collective horsepower unleashed, Brittney's front wheels in the air. Will be doing 100 mph in 60 feet.
  2. Truth be told I sort of have a harmless crush on Brittney. Smart (university grad), beauty, pretty quiet and humble, and drives 320+ mph in 1000 feet. She looked straight at me while I took the above photo from approx 25 feet away. Been an NHRA fan for 45 years. John is 70 now, still doin it. Just look at the face......intense. The lights are def on
  3. Which 3 concerts did you attend? I drove over to Houston 4 weeks ago for Sunday eliminations, it was awesome! Brittney repeated her win. Big fan of Force Racing. It had rained hard on Sat but was just beautiful on Sunday, cool and not a cloud in the sky.
  4. I owned the Sansui AU 9900/TU 9900 pair approx 42 years ago, it was lovely precise equipment. Brings back the memories. Good luck with your sale, George.
  5. I agree with you Bruce on the quality of the recording on blu ray disc. It is superb. Side note, the guy on guitar in the band is Willy Nelson's son. In the scene/song "Remember Us This way" Gaga on piano, when they pan and the guitar player says something like "wow" to Cooper, that is Lukas Nelson (long brown hair and beard). He coached Bradly Cooper and wrote a lot of the music in the movie (7 songs). I purchased both the blu ray and mp3 soundtrack after seeing the movie at my local theater like 5 times. I rarely watch a movie multiple times but something about this movie and the music just touched me deeply. Bradley Cooper did such a bust up job acting, singing, and directing. He spent 2 years training to sing and play the guitar for the movie. Cooper actually sang all his parts but I believe somebody else played some of his guitar riffs, maybe Nelson. Cooper was an alcoholic for years before the movie came along, so he could relate well. I'm not a fan of Gaga and her own music, but in the movie I sure am. She is so talented.
  6. I own one of these. Impressive tiny stereo integrated amp, a stereo rca to 3.5mm cable, and a mp3 player (or your phone) and you have a test rig. 50 watts per channel @ 8 ohm load. Fosi amp at amazon
  7. This a is another article about class D amplifiers. The article makes reference to "analog" class D amplifiers. While there are true digital class D amps (pulse code modulated), not all class D are indeed "digital amplifiers". Same explanation as quoted above from the wiki article. https://www.analog.com/en/analog-dialogue/articles/class-d-audio-amplifiers.html
  8. I would suggest you read the reference article at the link I provided above. "The letter D used to designate this amplifier class is simply the next letter after C and, although occasionally used as such, does not stand for digital. Class-D and class-E amplifiers are sometimes mistakenly described as "digital" because the output waveform superficially resembles a pulse-train of digital symbols, but a class-D amplifier merely converts an input waveform into a continuously pulse-width modulated analog signal. (A digital waveform would be pulse-code modulated.)"
  9. I read an interesting fact on wiki while reading about amplifier designs. Class D amps are not "digital". Some people on the internet have referred to them as digital amps. D was just the next letter to be used for an amp classification/design. Class A, B, A/B, D, E, F, G, H wiki article on amp classifications, strengths-weaknesses, for those who like to research/read: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_amplifier_classes
  10. No I have never owned one, but all the reviews I read recently are positive. A member here sold one in the classifieds in the last 7 days. Crown amps sound hard to beat for the price of admission. 4 ohm stable too. People pay 2, 3, or 4 times what Crown wants for brands like Emotiva, Anthem, Marantz, or Yamaha. Crown originated in the music/PA industry. Not saying they are the best but seem like a really good deal. Crutchfield sells em too, read the reviews. But you can find a better price than Crutchfield on the net. Although Crutchfield support and CS is benchmark. I picked a popular model, link below: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_859XLS1502/Crown-XLS-1502.html?search=crown_amplifier
  11. All of the Crown models have DSP, adjustable HP and LP filters, and some sort of bandpass option. And the ability to be stereo or mono (bridged). Google Crown amp and pick a model and go searching for the lowest price. I was searching a couple days ago.
  12. OP, here is another option out there. Purchase this mini 2.1 amp and convert your 4.1 to 2.1 system. It'll cost ya $77 delivered and a little time cutting wires and re-terminating. You would have to open up the woofer module and solder a lead from Fosi amp and disconnect the OEM internal amp. I purchased one of Fosi's mini stereo amps (class D) back in January. Simply amazing for the price, clean output, and the bass and treble adjustments are wonderful. Driving a pair of Elac Debut 6.2 speakers I picked up for half off at my desktop pc. You wouldn't believe how good it sounds. The pots/knobs are high quality. I like the Fosi so much I have considered purchasing a spare, just because. I have no doubt this little amp could drive my Cornwalls quite well, from either my cd player or mp3 player output. Its amazing what the global marketplace offers from China. I ordered two 110v on/off switches delivered to me from China (ebay) for $1.15 Unbelievable. And a 18 month warranty on the Fosi, has great reviews on amazon too. Mine included. link to amp at amazon:
  13. Really interesting read on high end audio digital file types and advantages: https://www.soundguys.com/high-bitrate-audio-is-overkill-cd-quality-is-still-great-16518/
  14. I had a Telefunkin RTR in 1978. It was a nice piece of German engineering. Used it mainly to create reverb mixed with the original source turntable. First RTR I ever saw was at a Ground Pattie restaurant in Jefferson Parish, LA. I was probably 13 or 14, circa 1972. GP had Bose 901s hung all round the joint high, probably 4/6 pairs, MacIntosh amps, couple RTRs, FM radio, all behind a large cabinet with big sliding glass doors. Ground Pattie is still there, but the high end audio equip has been long long gone. Still making a great flamed grilled burger. Clearly the original owner was an audiophile. Now I am getting nostalgic. Wish I had a lot of my former stereo equipment, maybe not to play but as a museum of sorts. That Telefunkin RTR. Had a pair of Bose 901s......wish I still had them for the "museum". Bose made millions off reflected sound and never publicized or posted frequency responses for any of their equipment. That was a Bose trademark They didn't want you to see how horrible the overall FR really was. The Bose Acoustimass which was all the rage for quite a while. Sonic nightmare, never owned it.
  15. I had a nice cassette deck with Dolby noise reduction. I too recorded my own collections, had a case full of Maxell cassettes. "Is it real, or is it Maxell" commercial. Funny I got rid of it 6.5 years ago when my house was flooded but I can still see a vivid image of the front of the unit in my mind. Had a unique green label on the cassette door. I have made a few cd coasters in my life time too When you break those cds by hand, they can sometimes become serious shrapnel. gimmeheadroom, so where do you purchase or acquire your FLAC recordings from? A favorite vendor or source? Actually after doing a bit of research and looking at images on line, I believe my Panasonic cassette recorder/player employed DBX and dolby NR. Google and the internet are awesome! This is my former unit: http://www.hifi-classic.net/review/technics-rs-m270x-331.html
  16. Thanks dtel. The RP-280s were pretty amazing too, but at this point in my life I wanted something other than "big black boxes" in my LR. I have owned quite a few pair of tall black boxes in my lifetime. Somebody will get these CWs when I die. I was watching A Star is Born blu ray earlier to test the new position of the SB-3000 hidden behind my recliner. The opening concert scene and others when they are playing live on stage (Shallow). The CWs and the 3000 are just plain bad to da bone! I could feel the vibrations, the impact in my sofa And sound good....... like being there front row. Gaga is a freak in real life but the woman can sing and play the piano wonderfully. Cooper performs well too.
  17. Oh yeah I had a Pro Media 2.1 system that lasted about 3 or 4 years. Amp bit the dust. I now have a vastly superior system at my desktop pc that I put together and at a very reasonable cost. Music actually sounds better at my desk/computer than my living room.
  18. Ok, so today my new longer subwoofer cable arrived in the mail. Time to move the left CW to access my receiver rear. So i carefully laid her down on a heavy blanket and installed the walmart plastic furniture sliders that I already had. Way better than the stock metal buttons. The new cable is awesome, 40 foot RG 6 cable with great shielding and nice terminations. Cost me $15.47 delivered to my door. So if any of you guys need to purchase a longer subwoofer cable, or rca cables, I highly recommend them. Got it from The Cimple Co out of Utah off ebay. Quick delivery too. Moved the SB-3000 behind my recliner. This should be interesting. Some trial and adjustments no doubt. CW back upright and in position, no damage
  19. So i mentioned the Data Bass website above and I just found out the website addy has changed. Actually a new and improved website (v2), with newer reviews. Below is the up to date hot link. I'm quite sure some of you guys here will find the site informative and entertaining. https://data-bass.com/#/?_k=lpb4oa Josh and JTR Speakers have been busy. JTR Orbit Shifter sub = 141 db @ 80 hz. 4000 watt amp. Oh my!
  20. No disrespect intended to anyone here. Or arrogance on my part.
  21. I just don't get it. Must be that old school nostalgia feeling. I had cassettes in their heyday. (some 8 track cassettes early on in my life). Had a really nice Panasonic deck, made my own recordings. Ditto vinyl, had approx 250 rock albums in impeccable condition in the era of 1970-1990. But when cds became available, I jumped on that format and abandoned my vinyl. I gave away my albums to friends and sold a few. No more tape hiss, no more crack and pop. I now have a collection of about 400-500 cds. The typical specs of cd recordings excel by a huge margin compared to cassettes and vinyl, dynamic range and distortion. Even in today's mp3 world with compression, cd recordings are still one of the best widely available cost efficient for musical purity at home. I do mp3 recordings too, at 320 kbps data rate. Got a few WAV and FLAC files that are > 500 kbps. Bluetooth for music transfer, no thanks......if you like data compression times 2. To each his own. Guess I'm not a very nostalgic kind of guy. What am I missing here?
  22. Or this..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SywaUbg5wU
  23. dedicated to "what I'm listening to right now". Sort of share your music thing, sample new and different to you music, works well on other forums. Watch this amazing guy on piano, crankin up the audio on my Cornwall iiis NO cell phone audio allowed! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjouNZZNE3g
  24. I have seen many discounted SB-1000s on the SVS outlet page. Many guys purchase and then want more I believe, but for your situation (apartment) it may be perfect. Either way good luck and happy listening
