  1. Here's one more absolutely beautiful recording. Concierto de Aranjuez, Miles Davis, Sketches of Spain (CD Columbia Jazz Masterpieces).
  2. I stumbled across a beautiful CD today in my local Half Price Books shop. Dave Grusin Discovered Again plus! It's the 76 LP recording, with four alternative takes (Sheffield Lab's Audiophile Reference Series). The bass work by Ron Carter on The Colorado Trail (both takes) is something special.
  3. Jeez, A double post. I seem to have caught Dave Mallett disease. Is it something peculiar to the Dallas area?
  4. jhawk92, Like you, when I first got my Klipschorns I couldn't wait to try them out.I had them running out of the corners for several days. Even so, they sounded better than anything I had heard before.
  5. jhawk92, Like you, when I first got my Klipschorns I couldn't wait to try them out.I had them running out of the corners for several days. Even so, they sounded better than anything I had heard before.
  6. I was playing some Bix Beiderbecke one day and my eleven year old said "That's Popeye music." Oh well, we live in hope!
  7. damonrpayne, Go with whatever sounds good to you. My home theater set up is Klipsch Heritage with a Denon AVR-4800. Too bright? Not in my opinion!
  8. I don't know about an exemplary recording, but I picked up a couple of "disques Vogue" CDs at one of my local discount stores recently for next to nothing. The titles are "Lionel Hampton in Paris" and "Zoot Sims in Paris". Wonderful listening!
  9. Lynn, "They simply seem to disappear when the music starts." That says it all. Congratulations! For any of you out there teetering on the edge, take the plunge. You won't be disappointed.
  10. I guess it's always easier to ask the question than search first ...
  11. As far as I'm concerned, this has been one of the best threads in months on this board. So much information! I have a pair of Moondogs with the ultimate upgrade and I couldn't be more happy with my purchase. Erik, whereabouts in Texas are you?
  12. Here's a suggestion for any one wanting to sign up. Don't bother going to the Yahoo site unless you want to go through the irritating procedure of signing up for Yahoo! groups. Just send an email. Much simpler and it will keep your blood pressure down!
  13. Dean, I was just kidding about not listening to Kelly, I'm sorry if it didn't come across like that. It was probably Kelly, more than any one else, who persuaded me to take the leap and go tubed and I really appreciated the advice he gave me.
  14. foodshouldbefree, This site is a wonderful source of inspiration and information. Based on my experience, I would recommend that you take a very careful look at the Heritage speakers (Klipschorn, La Scala, Heresy).
  15. MBM135, Your description of the Planet itself was entirely accurate. I was just amazed at the build quality. Solid metal, no cheap plastic. They didn't have to build it like that but they did. To me, that tells you something about the commitment of the company to quality.
  16. Justin, You're in for a completely different experience. I just wish I hadn't listened to Kelly... Seriously, though, I just hope you enjoy your new adventure into tubes.
  17. Craig, Would you like to give us details of your $10/meter set?
  18. Remote is weak? I have a Planet and I don't understand. Would you like to be more specific?
  19. Blacthorn, I suspect you probably have a certain room in mind. What size is it?
  20. prodj101, Don't waste any more time with Alienware. Get your mother to call her credit card company. She should explain what happened and tell the credit card company that she wants to "put the charge into dispute". They will suspend the charge so that your mother does not have to pay any interest on it and contact Alienware. If your mother's credit card company is half-way decent, Alienware will take the computer back and pay for the return shipping.
  21. My envelope was torn up as well but fortunately the papers themselves were undamaged. Great job, Art, and thank you so much.
  22. Dave, I have a Rega Planet and I must live about 20 minutes away from you ...
  23. I had my Klipschorns shipped by the Logistics Division of North American Van Lines. I was fortunate because the seller packed the speakers but, if they wont do that, North American will blanket wrap them. They base their price on a minimum shipping weight of 500 pounds but, nonetheless, I got a really good price, door to door. I would have no hesitation in recommending them.
  24. jwadd21, Since you listen to CDs a lot, I would suggest you buy a dedicated CD player. I used to play my CDs on a DVD player until I acquired a Rega Planet. The improvement in sound quality was much more than I expected. At around $400 for a model in first rate condition, I dont think you can go wrong.
  25. Jim, They are big aren't they??? I had to get mine up a narrow staircase to the second floor. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with them. Don't wait too long to get them hooked up. Congratulations.
