  1. Yep, music, photography , and women , oh, and cars 🤓
  2. I like to simulate live music levels sometimes , and a lot of music is performed pretty loud , as far as movie LFE, I like a shotgun blast and exploding grenade to sound as realistic as possible , a peak of 110 db c weight at the listening position will do a really good job when combined with a good subwoofer and shaker setup , (providing its a really good recording)shakers because 140 to 150 db (actual blast level )isn’t going to happen , (thank goodness). This is with a Khorn pair and Lascala center. Having said this I don’t listen at these levels for long ,usually just for a cool movie scene ,or to show off the system 🤓
  3. There is nothing technical or convincing about this argument , and it’s particularly weak coming from an electrical engineer . According to Elon Musk , a 100 mile x 100 mile grid of solar panels (10,000 sq miles) would be sufficient to supply the US of all its electrical needs , argue with Elon Musk .
  4. Your argument sounds more political than scientific, stick with building amps.
  5. Nothing wrong at all being hesitant about solar panels , lots of people want or require a faster /larger return on their investment . Sounds like many on the forum have installed them with good success ,that’s great. 🤓 EV technology has been around for years , it was the battery that held it back , just 30 years ago, lead acid was the only game in town , lithium battery technology has changed everything , electric is the sustainable future , and it’s coming 🤓
  6. The wife’s voice measures in at around 80 db , so 85 db is my magic number ,anything less than 85 , I will get a horrible duet effect🤓 . When the little lady isn’t around, 75 db peaks are satisfying, I’ll listen at 100 db peaks occasionally with some of my favorite music , but only for a few minutes ,a movie with really good special effects and outstanding use of LFE can sound phenomenal at very high levels , I’ve measured 110 peak at my listening position , but after the awesome scene, the volume is returned to sane levels.🤓

Just read that a max db reading of 110 was indicated at 3.7 miles away , and over 230 db registered at some unknown distance, probably at a distance that would vaporize the poor bastard holding the spl meter .🤓
  8. JubScala has always struck me as a brilliant idea , a great horn at a good height , mated with the Lascala bass bin , which is excellent ,( just roles off a little early). It’s a speaker that I would be interested in hearing . Agree about the Khorns not always fitted into corners properly, I’ve had mine for a long time , I love them but, they’re not so flexible in their positioning , I eventually built a dedicated room for them .🤓
  9. Your room isn’t so small , I’m only trying to point out that the size of the room will contribute to the sound quality good or bad . I’ll never discourage anyone from buying Klipsch , particularly their new flagship model , I think your setup looks fantastic . But In general I do like the sound of a larger room , and that goes for my room also , wish it was bigger . No offense to anyone with smaller rooms , smaller speakers, weaker amps , overweight wives etc .🤓
  10. I’m sure that the Jubilee will sound fantastic in any sized room , but I’m certain that they will not sound the same in different sized rooms , after all the room size will affect the acoustics of the listening environment. Small rooms have inherent issues , large rooms different concerns. It’s a matter of taste ,as to which is preferred 🤓
  11. He’s got my vote ! ( I hope I’m not being overly political)
  12. Good question, I remember listening to a set of Klipschorns playing in a really small room , maybe 10x10 , they sounded ok , but they didn’t sound nearly as good as Khorns playing in a big room . I don’t think these big horn speakers perform at their very best at anything approaching near field listening , better to give them plenty of room .In other words I think the Jubilee will be even more fabulous in a larger venue. , interested to hear some comments 🤓
  13. The platform belongs to Klipsch , so I get it . Nothing new here . Even at home when speaking out of line , the little lady may just shut it all down , but what the H , I still love her. đź’•.
  14. That’s probably a pretty darn good way to look at it . Now that I’m a bit older and against all odds ,still enjoying pretty good hearing , my mind has transformed into complete acceptance to the Khorn sound , I’ve abandoned all criticism because the general presentation is just so good , really hard to beat , especially when played with the Lascala center ,it’s nice to be satisfied , now , finally I can focus most of my attention to the music or a good movie . Life is good🤓

    Let that SINK IN...

Twitter ,“ obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape , where anything can be said with no consequences!” . This is a quote from Elon Musk . If he’s serious about this statement , then buying Twitter could be his biggest challenge yet.
  16. I agree , I don’t hear any negative effect either . And that also goes for the Khorn bass bin delay , I guess someone would need to explain to me just what to listen for , maybe then I could appreciate the issue . I understand the concept of course ,but I’ve always considered it as more of a technical flaw ,with little to no real world impact on audible sound quality.
  17. I wonder what kind of speakers the S.O.B. ran ? Probably a wine and cheese tasters brand , what a loser .🤓
  18. Yea , but I also buy the cheap garden hose ,so I probably can’t win either way 🤓
  19. Fancy wire is not without merit ,I fully realize that it’s difficult or impossible to impress my friends , neighbors or new girlfriends with zip cord , lamp cord , or cheap cord . A real high class set up ,needs the fancy jewelry to properly play the part . That’s one reason why all my wires ,splices ,connectors, cheap subwoofer and shaker amps ,are all safely hidden from view ,behind the wall .🤓
  20. Hey Claude , thanks for the interesting story. Here’s a pic of some spare Bozak parts , wanted to show you the skinny internal wiring . My dad had the equivalent to the Concert Grands , in huge home built cabinets. I wish I could hear them again today, they did sound really good, but my memory has faded on these . BTW Interesting article ,I love what he wrote under “Logical Conclusions ? “🤓
  21. My dad set me straight on the subject about 50 years ago, he was a pretty smart guy on most subjects. But he wasn’t infallible , he thought his Bozak’s sounded better than my Khorns 🤷‍♂️.hehe . It was something that we joked about from time to time🤓
  22. I think the older models of Klipschorn and Lascala are still one of the best values in home audio . And if your lucky enough to find a pair in excellent original condition , jackpot .These old models , in the right room will immediately impress you with their unparalleled scale and authority, they let you know that the big boys are playing the room , and with good music ,you become immediately aware that something special is going on , and it is . Don’t get me wrong the newest versions are awesome , but the biggest old heritage speakers still sound fantastic . The new models benefit from various refinements, but the old classic stuff is perfectly acceptable for those of us who preferred Maryann over the more sophisticated and refined Ginger .🤓
  23. I can’t complain about my HF floor jack , it gets really low , works perfect ,and pulls around just fine, it’s just a big clunker to use , especially in the garage with its long handle and base.🤓
