  1. Beautiful speakers! Wolverines have an excellent reputation as well!
  2. NO CAPS!? I just replaced a bunch of electrolyitics in my Marantz 2238 and now you're telling me NO CAPS!? Okay, I'm breaking out the solder sucker now....
  3. I'm done until I get a bigger apartment. I'd like a pair of Forte' or Chorus II's. Then I'd put my KG4's on surround duty, but WHERE!?!?!?!?
  4. If you're on a budget, an old Marantz like my 2385 might do the job, but it's not really an "a-v" receiver. Love the way it sounds with my kg4's though. Wish I could find a set of Fortes in Korea
  5. Lunatic! Hey, I resemble that remark! Does this explain why I'm watching the Rocky and Bullwinkle movie even as I type!!!!!
  6. Psywar...the only way to deal with women! Bravo!
  7. Who said you have to give up wattage to own an SET! http://sound.westhost.com/specs.htm
  8. Interesting article on crossovers. Just don't ask me to explain it! http://sound.westhost.com/lr-passive.htm'>http://sound.westhost.com/lr-passive.htm There is loads of interesting audio stuff at his site. http://sound.westhost.com/
  9. While I was in the Air Force, we used to speed test duct tape. Before you washed an F-4 Phantom, you taped over the pitot, static, altitude, avionic sensor and other numerous tiny holes the aircraft had to prevent wash water from damaging the instruments. After the wash, if the crew chief forgot to remove the tape, it got "speed tested" on the Phantom. One slight problem though, the wingman would get the speed reading, the pilot would get nothing because an instrument was dead and the crew chief would get an ***-chewing for allowing the tape to get speed tested. One day our captain announced at roll call that our tape should no longer be referred to as "hundred mile an hour tape" but as "five hundred mile an hour tape".
  10. The folks who sold me my Heresies back in '74 told me that this was the issue that made the Klipsch Khorn plans go away. Uneven assembly, the wrong glues, etc. Big headache for PWK.
  11. Why beer is better than women http://www.collegehumor.com/text/beerbetter.htm
  12. There was a message a while back posted by a techie-type fellow that suggested a bass driver to match a rear firing passive radiator for the Heresy a la Forte. He arrived at this via the Thiele-Small parameters, but since you're building Cornwall cabinets, the results might be different. Darned if I can find it now, though..... Good luck on your project, though!
  13. Hoist a cold one for me, guys! Love to join you but it's a bit far from South Korea!
  14. Max, It'll be worth it all when you're on a drive one day (like my buddy was) where the wife won't give you a break, and your 11yr old daughter bursts out with: "Mom, quit bi--hing at dad!"

  16. Congratulations on a great looking boy! His first words will be "horn-loaded"!
  17. Guess I'm such an old Marantz fan because of the bang-for-buck-aspect. Can't afford a new McIntosh and pay alimony, too!...
  18. Beautiful amp, MH Out of curiosity, what are you using for coupling caps?
  19. Pulmoguy, I think T2K is hinting at you to lose the Sony! In any event I agree with his advice and choices on tube equipment. If you can't bring yourself to go with tube amplification, try to audition pre-1980 Marantz Solid-State. My 2385 is barely post-Watergate era and it sounds like new! Rocks the apartment complex like a 900lb gorilla, too! However, in your shoes if you insist on keeping the Sony (I bet you'll divorce it later), I'd lean towards the Fortes. A good tube setup like a Fisher 400 or Scottt will drive them nicely. You've got a big room (I don't) and they should really shine. The Chorus II is another speaker you might want to consider. Bought my perfect KG4s on Ebay, but like McCoo said, check the seller! Study their feedback carefully and good hunting!
  20. I heard a pair at a high end audio boutique in Seoul a couple years ago and can assure you they are breath-taking! Heard them playing instrumentals from vinyl through SET and they were light and airy. But what smmoth, effortless power!.... The pictures don't do them justice, they are at the same time imposing and beautiful. I would sell my ex-wife to score a pair!
  21. Met Paul Klipsch in 1985 and he was definitely a "one-off". Great guy, he sure took a (mutual) liking to my then one-year-old son!
  22. Curious, what did you use and how did it work out?
  23. When I get bored, I browse through threads on this forum. It seems that harsh Yamaha's is a recurring theme. Two words: old Marantz. (I'm saying this so much that I'M becoming a recurring theme) Let your ears be the judge!
