A guy could not have asked for a better mother. She did such a good job of mirroring gods love for us by loving us kids even when we would misbehave. A week and a half ago I walked into the room with her and she was crying. She turned and told me she was sorry for how hard it was going to be for the rest of us. My HK-430 is on loan to my little brother with a set of sansui sp-50's as his dorm stereo. It's a great sounding little amp and for the way less than $100 that I got it for I'm really happy with it. However I think my Yamaha receiver(HTR-5540) sounds more controlled and less sloppy at high volumes(100+dB) when played through my Heresy 1's. The HK unit does have a nice phono preamp and a great tuner section. in my college days it served as my computer speakers paired with a set of JBL L46 and many a night was spent(after homework was done) sipping scotch and listening to the local jazz station while browsing the forums here.

Maybe your tube amp didn't like the B&K preamp that you were using. Could have been the preamps fault as much as it was the tube amps fault.

Maybe you should go back to your Sansui speakers. I jest.

I have a Gerber EZ-out that has worn enough over the past 10 years that I can momentum it out one handed about as fast as anybody I know with an assisted opening or switchblade style knife. usually at work I keep a Spyderco Delica clipit in my pocket though. It's a bit slimmer than the gerber and doesn't feel as bulky. I can also flick it open very fast with the thumb hole in the back of the blade. also closing it one handed is fairly quick, I flip the knife so the handle is betweel my thumb and forefinger and I depress the lock with the side of my middle finger, then a slight flick of my wrist and the blade is closed. Anyways, I think the build quality on the spyderco is a lot nicer than the gerber.

It's an A4. []My yamaha was a good first bass for the amount of money I was willing to spend at the time. But I was able to get my used Fender for not a whole lot more than I spent on the yamaha. The Fender is a '70 something with block inlays in a maple neck and a refinished (un)natural ash body. I also have a Fender Tele Plus from '91 that's american made with the lace sensor pickups in it. A few years ago(2001) I was really lusting after a telecaster and after shopping around for a while I came to the conclusion that the new american made tele standards were not near as nice as the 10 year old tele plus my friend had finally decided to sell. The fit and finish of the older guitar was nicer and the fretwork was much smoother and overall more finished looking. If I were going to consider getting another guitar or bass(I'm satisfied with what I own, amazing I know) I would probably look at used instruments before I considered a new ones.

I have a weakness for a good jazz drum setup, such as Rashied Ali playing with John Coltrane. Or Cello, Or Elvis.

Thanks for the offer. at this point I seem to have pretty much all the parts I need. The main thing i'm lacking is the daylight hours to work on them. Some of the mods on the station wagon, It has a Garrett T3 that I added along with bigger injectors and a dodge 4bar fpr. I converted it from an automatic transmission to manual out in the driveway with no power tools. Front mount Intercooler from a ford powerstroke turbodiesel, a very efficient IC that keeps my intake temps nice and cool. New Bilstein HD shocks/struts with custom adjustable camber/castor plates up front. The wagon is running Megasquirt N Spark fully programable standalone engine management, So I've got a serial cable hanging out of my dash that I plug my laptop into that allows me to change fuel, ignition, rev limit, overboost limit, etc... I sourced a Euro/Canadian spec cam for it that has about 2mm lift over stock. It's got upgraded swaybars to help with the body roll. To further help with the jelly suspension i've got these, I also picked up some adjustable torque rods to go with that stuff when I finally get around to installing it. Marvel and I also have a Triumph Spitfire in the garage that needs a bunch of work. Maybe that will be this next summers project.

Two JBL 4636 12" subs powered by an Alesis RA100 amp. Only 75 watts per sub but the 99dB sensitivity makes it not too bad.

I really love them. I have been wonderfully happy with them and have not felt like upgrading the system for a good while. That and my ducats have been being spent on automotive play things. I was spinning some old Zepppelin vinyl last weekend and was reminded how good they sound really cranked up. Almost tempting to put a pair in the back of my wagon Anyways, I'm rambling as usual.
