  1. Perhaps a djembe to provide a little bottom to your ditty? I can't wait for the B side. "Why can't we all just get along."
  2. ---------------- ...Steve Winwood does play all of the instruments on "Arc Of A Diver". Also, he plays most of the instruments on Traffic's "John Barleycorn", which was intended to be his first solo LP, until late in the recording sessions, at which time he brought in Jim Capaldi and Chris Wood, which turned it into a Traffic release. ---------------- Announced today. Traffic is a 2004 inductee into the R&RHOF.
  3. WhiteVan Sound Labs. I would rather know why he wears a tachometer on his wrist. Watches must be a "thing" with him.
  4. ---------------- Rodger is correct in that a full range speaker makes a much nicer center than a traditional center speaker. ---------------- If the electronics are the same for the center channel, i.e., full range output and mix of L&R stereo channels, then it would stand to reason to use a full range speaker. However, the center channel in Dolby, etc., is fed discreet information from the soundtrack that is different from the left and right channels. Some old integrateds had a center pre output for another amp and speaker, but that was mix of L&R. A large (heritage) center may well be overkill in size and range capability.
  5. Mr. Fantasy was Traffic's debut album. I read somewhere that Winwood could have played all instrument tracks himself on his albums if he so chose. Talented musician. edit: Doh! someone already posted this info.
  6. Sorry to say that I have never set foot on a green except to get to the other side. Maybe in the next life. I carry a driver in my trunk thinking I will get to t-off at Rocky Gorge when I get some time. That has not happened yet.
  7. Geico has a lizard. But Gebco has cheerleaders! (Sorry but if you are not a Baltimoron, you are missing the fabulous Gebco girls. "Go Gebco, go gebco. Go go go gebco.")
  8. http://www.shunmook.com'> Surely you have heard of the "magic of Mpingo!"
  9. ---------------- Supposedly there were only 45 of these ever made. ---------------- Limited production does not bode well for availability of parts to fix it. I once had one beauty of a Marantz gold tone solid amp, twin big meters and spotless, removable front panel. Caps? Totally unavailable.
  10. I get emails from Paypal that go like this: Dear Loyal Paypal Customer; Congratulations! Your item sold for $49.87. Your selling fee is $39.72. Don't do anything. We will automatically deduct if from your credit card. Thanks a Million (literally), Paypal Customer Service. Okay, an exaggeration. But you get my drift.
  11. I've been looking hard at my stash of speaks, amps, etc. I am about to call it quits on buyin' and start fitting some of this stuff together into semi-permanent listening systems. The Khorns and Cwalls (is it okay to call them that?) need a time warp to two years out when I will have room for them. Gary, if you could spare a closet, the Khorns sound mighty tasty. I have a pair of Allison Ones stacked in the shop (basement) so I know how you feel.
  12. Oui down kneed know sting king spell chequer.
  13. ---------------- Klipschfoot, I thought you'd jump on these! ---------------- Well, that goes to prove the race IS to the swift, after all. I bet you were hoping that their broken "stereo" had some tubes, huh? You did make an offer to look it over, didn't you? Great find, Gary.
  14. oops. double clicked again.

  16. ---------------- photoshop . ---------------- This photo predates Adobe. And putting a W on them does not make sense w/o the P and K. I will bet someone happened upon the uniquely grained veneer and treated the big guy with them. Imagine owning a set of these!
  17. under INTERNET OPTIONS, go to PRIVACY, then ADVANCED and click OVERRIDE AUTOMATIC COOKIE HANDLING then check BLOCK THIRD PARTY COOKIES. I keep a shortcut on my desktop to my cookie folder and check it regularly and delete any I don't recognize from sites I regularly visit. Also, if you have ever had the misfortune to have an unwanted site come up while doing some (seemingly harmless) surfing, you may have gotten spyware or even an application automatically downloaded. There are lots of programs that will detect these annoyances. Also, change your email address as soon as you start getting spam. Note: Internet taxes will not be used stop these things. Let your voice be heard.
  18. PWK in his younger days. The angle makes him look as tall as a yeti.
  19. You have probably seen this before. What is that wood?
  20. ---------------- Do I need these? ---------------- I can't reckon that I have ever used "need" as a reason to buy any of my audio toys.
  21. Doesn't "room gain" correlate with room resonance? And, if so, how do you measure resonance? Then how does resonance affect sound realism? After, isn't realism what we are after?
  22. Just wait until 2009. If it was any good, it will be available for half the original price and you can read 5 years worth of reviews. If the product flops, you will have saved the original inflated cost. In the meantime you can enjoy your Heritage or Classic, knowing that sound can hardly get THAT much better at 4X the price.
