  1. I might be available if you are serious. I have not dropped anything in quite a while.
  2. Oh. I thought you meant... Gary, I was getting concerned. What a relief.
  3. What is the "subject" and are you up to snuff on email-spawning viruses? Then check www.symantec.com for latest virus threats. Good not to open email from those you do not know.
  4. I concur. My sub is on the fritz and I'm depending on my Quartets for all the bass. These Classics are great for HT and I think the word is out that little satellites just don't cut it for theater-like sound. The dynamics (subtleties) of movie soundtracks depends on efficient speakers. Good luck selling your Paradigms (nice speaker in its class) here on the K-forum. Might make a good bedroom system, though. (Fun to be called a "cool newbie," huh? Now I am a "Crazy Poster" like I am some sort of derelict just becuase I crossed the 100-posts mark. I would rather be called something like "Educated Fool" than "Crazy Poster" - a badge worn until I am called an "Insane Poster" or "Answering Machine." You would think that the forum monitors would be a little more endearing of their product's best fans. "Nope" from Hope.)
  5. WRF=1000. (Wife REJECTION Factor)
  6. You kidding? I hardly have room for two pairs, let alone one pair. They are 27w x 29h x 19d. Though if I had seen the ad, I would have pounced on them and dealt with space issues later.
  7. Here is a pic of the same ones that I have. Does this guy look happy or what? This is not the lattice furniture style cabinet. It is the utility cabinet. (WAF=ZERO)
  8. Somethings are found only in America. (I linked it because I did not want to "muddy up" the thread.)
  9. Gotta be homebrew - really nice homebrew. It looks like plumbing and planks. And I was gonna just build dollys! There's always someone raising the bar. I just wonder if he ever looks at his significant other like that!
  10. Okay okay. Next we are going to hear that an HF-81 driving a pair of Academys is the ticket to audio bliss. Seriously, it's nice to know that you don't have to shell out $1K+ for museum Macs for good sound. For me, my HF-81 to my Valencias is a hard combo to beat. I just wish I had the room for three setups. Check out this pic I googled up. He must know something about the Valencia'a potential.
  11. I am watching U-571 now. Great center dialogue and R/L surround effects. Recheck your DVD's setup and choose Languages, then English DTS.
  12. Can't promise but I will try. I don't have a pair of Heresys, only one center. I don't NEED another set of speakers, but if I can find a pair of elusive local Heresys, it's worth a shot. Thanks.
  13. Gary, if you are seeking to trade those 72 Heresys, I may have a buyer. Me. Let me know if that is the situation. I have a vintage Heresy center. My wire connects are above and right of center along with the sticker. Drivers are K77, K55V, K22EF. If yours match and you are looking to swap so you can have your third? set of Cornwalls, we can talk. I still have your email from previously. Fact is, I am swamped with family and business matters at present but always could use some walnut Heresys to enhance my HT experience. And I like walnut.
  14. Because he: ...sees an RF-8 comin down the pike? ...likes walnut veneer instead? ...hates foil cones? OR ...just got an ultimatum!
  15. Google turntable isolation and call me in the morning.
  16. In addition to any other tweaks, if you can, put the "rack" in the corner of load bearing walls to give it more support. It sounds like part of the problem could be barely-code floor joists. Do you have a nice rack? ;-) Even if it is made of tubular steel, it may always be problematic if the floor is springy. You could also consider a platform mounted to a load bearing wall. (WAF=0)
  17. Get your speakers too close to your set? You may need a good degaussing.
  18. You gotta go to the RF-5 and 7 to get real wood veneer. Why? If RF-35, 25, and 15 are "Reference," they should have reference wood veneer, not just black ash and vinyl fake cherry. Ask a cabinet builder and he will tell you that cherry is out of style. It's overdone. Everyone wanted cherry 10 to 15+ years ago. Now it's wood, any wood, and solid wood for cabinetry. It makes no difference, at times, whether solid wood is even practical or necessary. Consumers just want to boast that it's solid wood. I think Klipsch would do well by reintroducing walnut in it's Reference line. I was looking to replace some vintage walnut KG-4 with Reference to "slimline" the profile. After doing some research, I will have to rethink Klipsch's offerings because I want real wood veneer and I am not interested in the size of RF-5 or 7 or spending top dollar for RB-75 when their primary use will be HT. Plastic just doesn't cut it for me. (Nor do foil cones, but that is on another post)
  19. Way Way Way OT: A lawyer and two friends, a Rabbi and a Hindu holy man, had car trouble in the countryside and asked to spend the night with a farmer. The farmer said "There might be a problem; you see, I only have room for two to sleep, one of you must sleep in the barn." "No problem," spoke the Rabbi, "My people wandered in the desert for forty years, I am humble enough to sleep in the barn for an evening." With that he departed to the barn and the others bedded down for the night. Moments later a knock was heard at the door; the farmer opened the door, there stood the Rabbi from the barn. "What's wrong?" asked the farmer. He replied, "I am grateful to you, but I can't sleep in the barn. There is a pig in the barn and my faith believes that is an unclean animal." His Hindu friend agrees to swap places with him. But a few minutes later the same scene reoccurs. There is a knock on the door, "What's wrong, now?" the farmer asks. The Hindu holy man replies, "I too am grateful for helping us out but there is a cow in the barn and in my country cows are considered sacred. I can't sleep on holy ground!" Well, that leaves only the lawyer to make the change. He grumbled and complained, but went out to the barn. Moments later there was another knock on the farmer's door. Frustrated and tired, the farmer opens the door, and there stood the pig and the cow!
  20. I experienced the outskirts of hurricane Agnes while living on the Eastern Shore and have seen rain blowing in around windows for, it seemed, hours. I saw none of that with this storm. I have friends who live off Old Columbia Road and they are without power. I have neighbors who have a condo on North Beach and the first floor of their building is/was under water. Their condo is on the second floor. We were lucky with this one, no doubt.
  21. No power loss whatsoever. Just a few flickers and surges zapping out my DSL modem. Rebooted it and everything was fine. Our family went for a walk around 12:30 AM. We got a little wet and the wind was gusty, that was all. The storm was all but over for us by then - no 2AM hit as was threatened. We did walk around many downed trees and branches, however. I tried to explained to my wife, who is from the midwest, what horizontal rain does to windows, but we never got it. Thank God.
  22. In the spirit of Large Advents (owned a pair in college, tossed them several years ago when the foam rotted before I knew I could how good they were), my vote goes to the Allison Nine. They are waiting for me to refinish the cabinets. These speakers could paint the slightest brush strokes of Carl Allen's drumming. But my exposure is limited compared to many of you.
