picky
As far as vinyl, the group: Heart's first album "Dreamboat Annie" on the original release LP by Mushroom Records has been my #1 test record for choosing speakers since 1976. Also, Joe Walsh: "The Confessor" and believe it or not; Rod Stewart's album: "Camoflage", his first digitally-mastered vinyl LP. And, many albums released on vinyl by Geffin Records in the 80s and early 90s such as those done by Sammy Hagar. -Glenn

LarryC
Carmina Burana is very good; lots of instrumental and vocal details to closely listen to. Also, The Planets. Sometimes you see an LP of this famous recording: http://www.amazon.com/Holst-Planets-Strauss-Sprach-Zarathustra/dp/B000056TKD/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1236014327&sr=8-2. RT FAN
John Lee Hooker: The Healer, title track features Mr. Hooker with Carlos Santana and his band. Slow intro, lots of different percussion, timbales etc. Searing, soaring guitar playing from Santana with the deep burnished vocal of John Lee. Should give you a pretty good idea of how good the speakers are. I read from a professional reviewer that he always used vocals, in particular women's vocals, to audition speakers. His reasoning was that the human voice was difficult to reproduce. YMMV.
