rennoc442
So I saw those cool blue meters on ebay, and was surprised to see the lil made in japan sticker! I thought mcintosh was this big made in america company? I guess outsourcing the car audio stuff is cheaper? Or maybe the Japanese know the way of the sword better then we do??? Anyways I wont be looking for mcintosh stuff for my car anymore, sad.

djk
12V car audio is made in Japan. Clarion owned them for many years. Home audio is made in USA.
TheEvan
MIJ is no shame. In fact, Accuphase, Luxman, Micro Seiki, Saec and most of the best MC cart makers are from those isles. That's for starters. Lots of exotica comes from there.
rennoc442
First, I cant see paying that much money for a product that is produced over in japan. If it was made here in the USA, that would be different. I promised myself to support our fellow american companies first, by buying everything I need made in the USA. I know for everything thats not possible. There are a few car audio companies that are american built, like JL Audio, MTX, etc. I think JL makes one of the best car audio subs. mungkiman
Many JL audio subs are made in China...
rennoc442
The subs that I have gotten over the years were all made in the USA. I didnt know they made subs in china? If I remember right their headquarters are here in fl.
mungkiman
Do you ever watch Talk Audio TV? At about 1:02 of this video, you will see the "Made in China" logo: I have heard that MTX is also manufacturing in China.
rennoc442
Wow that's sad. The last sub I got last year was made in the USA. Maybe just the lower series is made in china, like Klipsch?
tigerwoodKhorns
Make sure that we understand what "Made in the USA" means. I'm pretty sure that is code for "assembled" in the USA. Probably engineered (for the most part) here too. Based strictly on quality, Japan is very good. I love their cars and motorcycles.
rennoc442
I think assembled, means made, be it with American "made" parts or not. I'm not doubting your love for Japanese products. My original post was about McIntosh, and how shocked I was to learn that their car audio products are made in Japan. While their home audio is made in America. jacksonbart
Didn't Clinton forgive them for Pearl Harbor? I thinks is all over and "A-O-K" to buy japanese products again.
