ryanm84
I've had my same basic setup since I was a senior in high school - KG4 and a stereo receiver. Nothing earth shattering there. It got me through college with the ability to irk my neighbors. I have made no changes to them and they are still a quality speaker. I have been kicking around an upgrade. I had a cousin with Cornwalls around the same time so I have a vague recollection of what they were like. I haven't heard the khorn though. Is there a member in the Phx area that is interested in bringing another person into the madness? I want to hear what they should sound like before taking the plunge? Thanks in advance! Daddy Dee
Hope you can get connected with someone so you can hear Khorns. They sound fabulous and can load the room with sound like no other speaker I've heard.
SuBXeRo
ive been watching the phx craigslist look for rf-5's, i haven't seen any k-horns come up yet. There have been some forte II's and cornwalls that have come up though. Other than this, i am not much help as far as having something for you to listen to. mungkiman
I know you're interested in Khorns, but there is a pair of Cornwalls on Phoenix Craigslist for $500. Pretty painless step towards the madness, especially if you don't have suitable corners for the Khorns: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/cph/ele/3633912480.html
mungkiman
And a nicer pair for $650 in Tucson: http://tucson.craigslist.org/ele/3621650961.html Only my opinion, but I think either pair would be a good step in the right direction, and either pair would hold their value. Especially these.
ryanm84
I will definitely look at them. What are the odds of buyers remorse getting Cornwall and then hearing khorns? That is the question for many I suppose.
Moderators dtel Posted February 22, 2013 Moderators Share Posted February 22, 2013 Welcome There is that chance, can't lie to you. If you don't have good clear corners for khorns look for laScalas, there closer to the Khorn sound with less bass.

That is the question for many I suppose. If you end up buyer's remorse, I think you could easily sell the nicer pair and make your money back. I have modified Khorns, Cornwalls, La Scalas, and Shorthorns, and listen to my Shorthorns and Cornwalls more than the La Scalas or Khorns... ryanm84
Well that was quick. Bought the Cornwalls in Phx. They sounded awesome and the nicks are nothing. I have been known to do some woodworking including veneer so I've already begun thinking about that process. In the meantime I will enjoy the sweet sounds. Seems to me that a pair of Cornwalls for $4xx can't really be beat.

That is the question for many I suppose. The good thing about Klipsch is they are very easy to sell. When you hear khorns and decide you want them the Cornwalls will flip real fast. I've been through tons of speakers this way.

The Dude
Or if you do find Khorns, and really like the sound. You can do what I did and by a bigger house for both, and then some[]. Welcome to the forum.
ryanm84
My wife doesn't understand and while that doesn't surprise me... But the bigger house is probably what it's going to take. I've got 2 sets of vintage klipsch speakers on my hands. What a conundrum!
MikeFord
Time to think about going 5.1. I've got Hersey's and Forte's, thinking hard about Epic or Quartets to compare with, and leftovers or a set of KG1 I have going in the rear, or office or garage or ? Worst case you pass the Klipschitis on to somebody new.

Perhaps... easy to purchase, but yet hard to sell or part ways with... lol.....[8]
