Zen Traveler
I purchase these speakers over 10 years ago and still enjoy them immensely but wonder if I need an upgrade...I've listened to/enjoyed these speakers for between 3 to 5 hours nightly since then and wonder if there has been any sonic degradation and what I need to do to rectify the situation if anything? Thanks!
Dr Morbius
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe you have to worry for another 10 years. I think you should look into upgrading the caps after 20 years minimum.
derrickdj1
I think you are good for another 10 years.
mustang guy
The only thing I can think of is possibly to deoxit the spades inside on the speakers and network and tighten any screws on drivers and network.
Daddy Dee
Couldn't imagine there being any sonic degradation over ten years. so to "need" an upgrade would be purely and subjectively optional. I heard a pair of RF7's before and after DeanG's crossovers and was impressed. If that's the sort of thing you'd like to do. very cool to still be enjoying the speakers. They are sweethearts. Dang Dee, you beat me to it. At this point it's down to want. The stock crossovers should be fine BUT if you're looking for an improvement, go with Deans rebuild. You'll notice a difference. pzannucci
tkdamerica, Your word "Ancient" is incorrect Maybe at 20 to 25 yrs you need to start looking at things that contain a motor but speaker drivers will typically work for a very long time without going far out of spec. Your speakers are "broken in".
