minermark
I may just ramble down the road, get along little cowpoke, hop on my mare, chew a chaw, sit my saddle, tuck into my horse blanket by the fire, out under the stars, and dream sweet thoughts of my Mary Sue, while chewing on some Purple Sage. Anybody here ever get a hankerin for some buckboard music? Tie on your bandana, set your Stetson, hitch up your jodhpurs, rope a little filly out of the herd and mark her with your brand. Most country music I can’t stand, its over-processed crap. Western music sometimes gets me going. Marty Robbins’s “Streets of Laredo”, “Do Not Forsake Me” by Frankie Lane is another. So my little doggies, what gets you to ridin the high Chaparral? How about Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjwWtRN-eHc Ok Bes, we need to get you out for a drink or two.........
LonestarBlues2
Listening to a Jarrod Birmingham CD, he is a Texas Country Music Musician from Victoria, Texas/South Texas. Jarrod Birmingham is The Real Deal, he plays Old School Hard Core Honky Tonk Country Music. His music reminds me of a cross between Dwight Yoakam & Waylon Jennings. I have seen Jarrod Birmingham numerous times when he has played in Corpus Christi at Brewster Street Icehouse. Whiskey And Lies is playing now, one of his best songs in my opinion. NOSValves
When I get the country bug now and then. I drop a needle on some Merle Haggard, Hank Jr, Waylon Jennings, Mickey Gilley, Mel Tillis and of course some Willie Nelsen.

Can't forget these two and their horse named ... and their sidekick named... and their jeep named... Edited May 5, 2014 by thebes
The Dude
Merle Haggard, Hank Jr, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash My grandmother gave me all my grandfathers records from these guys. I put away my system for the time being so haven't been able to listen, but these will be one of the first that I spin once I am back up and running. Great recommendations folks, I was listening to some of this stuff on youtube, and it sounds real relaxing.
