considering an audio switch, but what to buy ?

thought I would see if anyone has any experience with an audio switch, and what you might recommend ?? I found this niles unit although to me it seems pricey. However I certainly want something I can depend on with no added noise or ceosstalk

suggestions appreciated

I like Niles products... I've never had a bad one but I've never seen or used this.

I have used a Creek OBH-22 passive preamp for this kind of function. It has an attenuator but I left it turned all the way up. Very nice quality but isn't made anymore. Worth having if you find one used.

Here is another option (no experience with this one though): http://www.decware.com/newsite/ZSB.html

My integrated has a single input, and I would like to have more options
my vote would be for a used emotiva DAC. xda-1 or 2 would give you all kinds of inputs. i had to do the same with my integrated i had in the bedrom. plus the dac will give you remote capabilities for volume if you choose to use it that way.

Joesportster,

I have and use this switcher.

The switch is solid and feels good when selecting, meaning it snaps over to the next input versus a easy slip over to the next input.

The case is a thick plastic.

It is simple and it works well.

I use it as you would in your decription.

And I agree it seems too expensive, but I have no complaints.

I have had it about a year or so.

How's about a small line level(no microphone inputs) mixer? Or if you're handy build your own passive .A rotary switch and some connectors in a small hobby box. "Mustang Guy" just built something similar.

I am handy but my hands no longer are, My left hand shakes pretty much uncontrollably (cant even use it to type, have to 1 finger it and even then end up with lot's of mistakes)

Its cool you get used to it but there are limitations

I have looked around a bit at all the recommendations so far and price wise for my needs the Niles looks like the best option

This is most likely overkill, but it will switch digital audio or analog audio and video.... I used one for component video and digital audio for years. They were several thousand new but they are dirt cheap now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AutoPatch-Precis-Series-PR-0804-Matrix-Switcher-/261407528730?pt=US_Audio_Video_Transmitters&hash=item3cdd1a571a
