Islander
Here are some interesting-looking speakers. I wonder if they sound as good as they look? http://en.rocketnews24.com/2014/07/18/natural-sounds-stunning-kyoto-made-speakers-are-made-from-30-year-old-japanese-cedar/
oldtimer
My college dorm bunk beds were made of cedar in my parents garage. It's a great smelling wood if anything else.

MikeFord
Like all solid wood somewhere in the response curve will be big resonant peak from the wood. I have a showbox sized solid wood box that used to be popular to make. Just an empty box with half a dozen saw blade wide front to back cuts on the top, and each of those bars cut at different distances front to back. You play it like a Xylophone with a super ball on the end of a dowel.
Daddy Dee
i'm sure it would sound good. I think the solid wood thing is an aesthetic thing, pretty cool, but not an improvement over mdf. thanks for the link. really cooling looking speaker. joessportster
Reminds me of the Norh speakers they put out awhile back, single driver in a marble enclosure, sounded horrible but looked cool
cradeldorf
Theres a 100,000 acres of dead cedars in canada. and although I've never heard these speakers my guess is they sound like a pipe. they look like Mark audio drivers so not that expensive there... probably no crossovers either being full rangers.... Don Richard
They look like the Bazooka subwoofer that were used in cars a few years ago.
avguytx
They look like the Bazooka subwoofer that were used in cars a few years ago. That's exactly what I was thinking.
MikeFord
Used to be a small audiophile brand with speakers called Lead Balloons using tubes like that.
