Matthews
Some funny sounds occasionally erupting from my Paradigm 2200. Unfortunately, just sold my RW-12. Looking for a replacement to go with the Scala's. My budget is TIGHT! Any help or suggestions much appreciated. Thinking about BIC but know nothing about the mfg. Prefer an oak veneer but again, budget... Matthews
have you thought about DIY? Yes, I have thought about it (just thought though). Would definitely have to be a winter project however. The F20 is MASSIVE
MORE KLIPSCH PLEASE
Friends don't let friends listen to Bose got your attention Yes you did. lol lol, that sw 15 is also kind of big. Mine does good with my LaScala's What kind of $$$ are you looking to drop?
Matthews
What kind of $$$ are you looking to drop? My spending limit is rather low. I make a decent living but certainly don't have much disposable. Hoping to stay under 300 but am only able to go a little over 400 if necessary. Definitely an unplanned expense
Matthews
that sw 15 is also kind of big. Mine does good with my LaScala's Are you running an SW 15? I really like the SW 8 II hooked up to my morning mini system. I have my eye on that one the most, the 15. Thanks...
Turbox
no the F20 doesn't take up a lot of floor space. but it is tall. you have La Scala's the foot print is a bit less that the La Scala. Ideally you would end up with a horn sub. with an external amp. Edited September 2, 2014 by Turbox
Matthews
Ideally you would end up with a horn sub I do work with wood and all other building materials for a living. The skill set is there to build my own. The Paradigm in current use may or may not however make it that long. The time commitment is something I do not have right now. ...and I agree, a horn sub would be ideal

Yes I have the sw15II that I use most of the time, also got the sw12II that has a sw15II amp in it. Also got one of those Synergy 12 subs, found that on Craigs list for $200 bucks a few years back. It was almost new the guy didn't like it. Last I have a Dayton Audio titanic 15. Anyway there are a lot of used subs out there for that $200-$300 range. But yes I use the sw15II the most. Good luck Mark :-)
derrickdj1
Get one of the 15 in. subs on you list and call it a day.
Mr. Clark
I recently bought a tuba table, with a separate sub amp, for $100. The horn sub sounds sublime with my LSI. No comparison. Deals are out there if you're willing to drive!
alexg5775
If your budget is so low i would go the used, maybe craigslist route. La scalas are great speakers and require a good sub to be able to keep up with them. Say you go with a cheapo ported sub, that can sound terrible with the la la scalas and that you dont want and is a real waist of money. As mentioned above deals are out there, you just have to be patient and wait and be consistently looking, might require a nice drive and its worth it. People are selling built horn subs for under 500, another 100$ or so on a amp and you will be right around the upper limit of your budget. jcmusic
Look at the SVS subs if your budget is tight, can't go wrong awesome co. and service...
tromprof
The F-20 sub is miles beyond anything you are going to find in the sub $1,000 range (actually I have never heard any sub I like better but I know they are out there) and will blend seamlessly with the La Scala. It is a very easy build and since you have wood working experience you could turn one out in a weekend. It can also be placed horizontally or vertically. iRONic
La Scala!! That said... save your pennies, do some side work, get a temp PT gig, and buy something good just once. $1500 scored me these two animals that live between my La Scalas;
mdross1
Our LaScalla's will be augmented with a pair of 20" wide BFM Table Tuba's fitted 10" drivers.
