well as the title states i have been trying to sell my 8350 and old 106" screen for a while and just keep getting low balls. talked to the wife and she said to just put it in our living room.

here's what i got to work with. the 106" will take up the entire front wall. so i got two options.

1)  build a small false wall and build or buy some bookshelf speakers and a couple smaller subs and put gear below kind of like what youth man currently had ORRRR...

2) sell the screen really cheap and buy a new smaller non AT screen which may help since i have more windows upstairs. but if i went with like a 100" or even a 92" i could buy some towers for right outside the screen and put the center on my existing stand.

opinions are always welcome.

Just curious, if you have a tricked out dedicated HT, what would the purpose of building an "inferior" setup in your living room?  By inferior, I'm referring to a setup that is MUCH less than what you have in your HT.  Would this screen replace the Kuro or drop in front of it?

i said the same when we first talked about keeping it. that it would maybe even take away from what i have downstairs.

yes the kruo would go in the bedroom.

my thought process is that i hate buying stuff and then just giving it away. id rather keep it and find a use than to just give it away. so to me it would just be a bigger tv for my upstairs. it would cost me nothing but buying a long hdmi cable.

I gotcha.  I know what you mean.  I paid $2500 for my AE3000u in Feb 2009.  Now it is worth around $500?  That's 7.5% decrease in value per year or $333.00 per year depreciation.  Pretty depressing if you stop and think about it.

garage is detached, gravel floors, and full of an acura, harley, and crap

So keep the acura & harley and get rid of the crap to make room.  Haha

Why not put the projector in the Master Bedroom?

I did that with a 55" Plasma one time, (installed it in the master bedroom) the wife came in and and said looks great, hows it working?

Not having anything hooked up yet i ask her to grab that old VHS Vcr from the closet, wired it up and had no idea there was a tape in it.

Fired it up and we witnessed life sized Porn, I ask her where the hell did we get that VCR? neighbor had given it to us when he moved! :o

P.S. a 55" TV is way to big for a bedroom!!

Not sure if it's desirable to you but if you go non-AT, I've been noticing a lot of people using in-wall speakers for a living room type of setup as to minimize bulk.  They'll either put two beside the screen and one under it as a center or else just line up three in a row under the screen, then sometimes paint the grills to match the walls.  Very clean look.  Routing wires behind existing drywall does suck though.  I've been thinking of doing this in my living room for ball games and whatnot.

When I bought my mini-farm the first day I came over I saw my neighbor acting really weird on the front porch, nervously rocking back and forth while hunkered over and making sly glances my way.  Come to find out, there was a big pile of embarassing stuff of theirs like 80's porn tapes dumped behind some honeysuckle bushes, they had taken all the weird stuff and used my land as their personal landfill.  I guess they thought they were being slick but it backfired.
