Tarheel
Saw this quote on FB and kind of liked it. Can't think of much recent music that bowls me over. Seems rap and hip hop has been adopted by the younger generation in mass. Country is now divided into country and new country.......yep I'm old! I know.....I don't have to listen.....and guess what? twk123
There is some good music today, you just have to look for it. There is some amazing hip hop out there but mainstream rap is garbage and it what is most prevalent. Artists like Atmosphere are awesome songwriters and storytellers: https://youtu.be/BpqOWO6ctsg https://youtu.be/hoLxuyV9qz8 (How do you embed youtube videos? Its not working for me anymore.) ChuckAb3
You hit the nail on the head, Chuck. I say that at the risk of sounding like my parents. Gotta say I was open minded enough to listen to and like a lot of their stuff. What I find encouraging is that many young folks are tuned into the old stuff I liked as a kid and still like. From my musician perspective, I look at hip hop as irritating noise rather than music and "new Country" as cookie cutter bubble gum pop music with little resemblance to the real roots of the genre. Thank God for the kids who understand the difference. Leaves hope for some real musicians and song writers to break through. As you said, I don't have to listen .... and I don't.
JJkizak
Well I just set the radio dial to old classic rock & roll and listen to "Mr. Classic" and "Maggot Brain" although sometimes some of the songs like "30 days in the hole", "Burn your house down", and "Vampires in London" kind of turn me off. seti
There is great new music out there and old music being reissued. I've found my taste in music changing over the years as most modern rock/radio and classic rock bores the crap out of me. There are exceptions of course. If it wasn't for jazz inspired bands funk ska island music and African reissues I'm not sure what I would be doing lol.... This south park episode says it all https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwKRJNtANL8
