Bonzo
With the very sad passing of BB king, I was thinking who is now the greatest living Bluesman? In my opinion, it's Buddy Guy. I know some who feel he was the greatest before BB King died. I saw Buddy Guy last year at The Britt Festival in Jacksonville, Oregon. He was "opening" for Peter Frampton which was a joke. Anyway, I believe he's 78 and can still keep up, play and entertain with the best of them! Even my wife liked his performance better and she's a big Frampton fan. The King is gone, long live the King!
Sprinter1104
I agree with you, I saw Buddy Guy last month in Redding at the Cascade. It's amazing how easy he makes it look, and at 78 years young no less!
Bonzo
He does put on a great show! I missed his performance last month at The Cascade, spaced it.

Paducah Home Theater
Eric Clapton and Billy Gibbons would have to be way up there.

Bonzo
If we're talking from across the pond, I would put Peter Green near the top of the list.

thebes
Robert Cray Good call Travis. Often mistaken as an R&B player, Cray may be one of the truest electrified blues players in the business. By name recognition, yeah Buddy's got the lead, especially if you confuse blues with rock and roll, but for the true blues purists, it's a flip of a coin between Taj Mahal (past his peak) and Keb' Mo', the most awesome delta blues player on the planet, and the Taj's heir. Moderators Travis In Austin Posted May 17, 2015 Moderators Share Posted May 17, 2015 Joe opened for BB King when he was a twelve-year-old (12), he is late 30s now. Here he is with Clapton at Royal Albert Hall. https://youtu.be/g1mzm6j6Urk
JJkizak
Buddy Guy had a recent show on PBS with two very young teenaged guitarists that were sensational. JJK
Paducah Home Theater
Only reason anybody would be considered the greatest living blues man is because Joe Satriani let him have that title. And gosh this is some funky bass.
