jimjimbo
Just purchased a Netgear Arlo Q for interior security camera duty. Setup was easy, wifi connection excellent, video quality excellent. Live streaming, and 7 day recording free. Happy with it so far.

Schu
I have been looking at a system of some type... something scalable. I see that "Ring" has a system coming out soon... what did the net gear give you over other systems? Is it a wired system of a wireless system? The wifi connection is excellent and the video quality is excellent. The camera is smaller than I thought it would be (which is good) and is very unobtrusive. It is scalable. One of the niceties is that it gives you 7 rolling days of free storage in their cloud, which many others do not. Has an app for iPhone and Android phones and tablets. I'm liking it so far. https://www.arlo.com/en-us/products/arlo-q/ https://www.amazon.com/Netgear-VMC3040-Q-1080P-Security-Storage/dp/B017B2043W/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1485532394&sr=8-1&keywords=arlo+q

Moderators dtel Posted January 27, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 27, 2017 Our neighbor has something similar, I don't think there is a fee,? the cameras just connect online with wifi I guess and you can get it through the phone, probably an app ? I never asked the brand but I think he said he got them at Sams. I know because he loves it and I have seen it on his phone as he excitedly was showing me, he has them pointing at his house, workshop and horses/yard. Thought you meant the phone to camera part. 7 days would be fine if no problems in that time just let it roll over to another 7, I would think that is automatic. USNRET
I have never been able to view my cameras from afar even though they are supposed to over internet. Mine are coax fed with 12 VDC power to each. I am seriously considering these Arlos but I wish they could be powered by the 12 volts I already have at each location. Davis
I was just looking at Ring and the associated exterior camera they have. I had not thought about interior cameras yet. Possibly film the "secret Life of speakers"
CECAA850
I came by the other night to see you Jim. I didn't know the cameras were rolling.
Schu
Lol^ One thing... can you download the files before the 7 days are up or are the files logged in a proprietary format/encoding that requires you to be a subscriber/camera owner?
