RF-7 & RF-7 II Driver Differences K-67 vs K-701g vs K-70g

Recommended Posts

Hello just curious about these drivers in the RF-7's and the odd-ball k-70g. I have the original RF-7's and wonder if the newer K-701g drivers are a better driver? Also I have a pair of K-70g drivers and was wondering if how close they are to the k-701g's? I can find info on the original RF-7 driver the k-67 quite easily but nothing on the other two drivers any input would be appreciated thanks!

No info out there on the k-701g or k-70g? I'm curious how they compare spec wise to the k-67v

The K70-G is also used as the mid driver in the Forte III for whatever that's worth.

Digging around on the net these drivers appear to be from Fane International the CD-130 looks closest but specs dont match up at least of their current model. At least it resembles the k-70 / 701g really cant believe there is no info out there on a driver Klipsch has been using for over 10 years .

Here's where some of the measurement tools from Parts Express comes in handy.

Also, the Klipsch RF-83/63 tweeter K-71-G looks very similar to the FANE CD-131. The studs are however slightly wider on the Fane.

K-79-G:            1" throat. 2.86" stud diagonal distance. 1.25" diaphragm

Fane CD-131: 1" throat. 3" stud diagonal distance.       1.375" diaphragm

Is Fane the OEM for these Klipsch drivers?

Nice info on the K-71-G....very interesting possibly made by Fane.  I use this driver with a small 3000hz horn as part of a three-way DIY set-up.  Really lovely sounding tweeter!

So I've been in contact with Speaker Exchange, apparently there is a K-70-g II coming out in the next week or two, not sure what they will look like:

Hello Jesse,

Original driver 128033 is unavailable but we will have a pair of 1068435 available in about a week or so. That is the K70G gen 2 driver. Those are $89.00 each.

I may get a pair of the 120861 woofers from them to go with the K 67s I got from you. I'm thinking that the drivers/horns have to be very similar to the K 50.1 used in the RB 75. I am good friends with a fantastic cabinet maker so I'll just have to come up with ports and crossovers for something RB 75 ish....
