Those could easily be refinished and would probably be awesome. But not for $2.2k (eBay). Not even for $1.8k (Craigslist). The eBay listing lowered its price to $2250. If I had crazy money and wanted some entertainment, I'd buy off the craigslist listing then once the cash had changed hands, I'd "buy it now" on eBay from my phone. Let the sparks fly. Still wouldn't cut the tops off, though. 1 1

AND he drives a pickup into work every day.

codewritinfool
They’re back up on eBay. Same seller in Chesterfield. They are back up on Craigslist too. I wonder what happened? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F233523345500

wvu80
Those have the dreaded Type AL crossovers. Add to that the lousy refinish job and those are worth every bit of $500. I had 1978 LS's with Type AA XO's. I paid $600 for mine.

Dave, if you'd like, you can add three confirmed sales to your La Scala list. I was involved in all three transactions for friends. All excellent condition, one LSBL and two LSBR. LSBL sold for 1800 in Dayton, Ohio. One LSBR sold for 1850 in Maryland, and one LSBR in Lansing, MI for 1200. La Scala prices are escalating very quickly. Your observation points out a flaw in my spreadsheet numbers. I've been accumulating data now for so long I think the first years are now outdated. I'm considering keeping data on just the last couple of years. The more data you have the more reliable the average will be, but I'm not sure sales data from 3 or 4 years ago is relevant. FYI the last five sales I have are 1350. 1300, 800, 800 and 685. Due to someone adding LS price late the first $800 LS sale was in 2017. I also show an $1800 sale in 2017 even though $1500 is typically the top.

FYI California sales are typically 20% higher than other places, except Texas which is also higher than the numeric average. There are few deals there! What was the finish and what were the mods? I would show your LS's not as stock but typically as value added. Condition B+ for XO upgrade or B++ if you added XO and tweeters.

Condition B+ for XO upgrade or B++ if you added XO and tweeters. All drivers swapped. Cabinets build over with plywood all around. Custom dolleys. Great, condition overall. Finish was custom dark brown. Stock LA scalas list in socal for $1500+ usually from what I have seen. Prices on the rise indeed Jim. Good thing I don't want another pair 😁.
