AndreG.
I´m also busy with getting the grilles done, finally. To be honest, I´m a bit intimidated - will they turn out straight in the end...
MicroMara
@AndreG. André ! Seems to be a very very very longterm project 😉

After that I only have to wait for my tweeters.

AndreG.
First one turned out ok, IMO. 9 hours ago, RandyH said: grilles are not easy to do with this very rigid polyester type fabric , you wanna do it right , staple the fabric to the maconite board , and cauterise the loose ends with a lighter No Randy, no staples, didn´t want them to be seen later. And i didn´t want to buy a stapler just for this. Just glue and clamping, starting with the large areas. The edges I "pre-folded" with clamps and a heat-gun, that made gluing around the edges easier for me afterwards. 4

AndreG.
Went veneer shopping this week and this is it, 2 x 2 meters of american walnut. It´s a bit thinner then the stuff used on the cabinets, so I´ll use two layers and sand down to a matching thickness. The wood looks more reddish than i really is, will have to get a little "creative" to match the colors as best as possible.

I've got new grill frames and fabric (from Crites) cut and ready to go. The fabric is quite rigid so was wondering what to do. Thanks!
AndreG.
There is a picture comparing the vintage and the Crites fabric on their page, here are some of how it looks on my grilles:

AndreG.
Replacement of the piece of veneer in progress. But "adjusting" the color will be a challenge... It will never match, i know, but i hope to come close, at least. This veneer matches the kinds of American Walnut on recent Heritage more than it does the 40+ years old one... AndreG.
So far, so good. I´m still looking for ways to match the color of the new wood to the old. There are some more details that I hope to fix, as you can see in the lower picture.
AndreG.
So the day before yesterday I finally got the note that my tweeters will be back here in the weekend... It only took HALF a year to get them re-magnetized... Well Iḿ happy I can finally put the Heresys back together. Most likely I won´t be able to notice any difference (If there ever was a noticable decrease in sound quality to start with.) in sound, because I last heard the speakers six months ago. But they´re done then and will most likely outlast my humble self. 😇
AndreG.
They´re back, finally! Put one together and back into the livingroom. Saw this idea here on someones Heresys, I really like how it adds to the overall finish. Had these glass plates cut, no more scratches on these! Lucky a school for glass-cutters is next to one of the buildings I work in.

MicroMara
don´t miss that chance to get good looking raisers for your Heresy´s , if the color doesn´t fit, re-paint them https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/klipsch-heresy-d-i-y-untersetzer-riser-genannt-neuwertig-z-verk-/2256038453-172-
