cheeseholidays
Hello all, I’m wanting to swap out the terminals on my mid-70s Heresy I (long story short the heads of a couple of the terminal screws have broken off leaving the stem behind). I ordered a pair of replacement terminals (Cinch 2-142 - appears to be a match) and I have everything I need to do the work, but I have two questions: 1. What’s the best way to gain entry to the cabinet? I poked around and removed the rear screws on one, but it didn’t seem “ready” to come off - I didn’t want to cause damage so I didn’t continue. 2. Is there anything else I should look to do to them while I have them open? Thanks!

I think the OP is having difficulty getting the back panel off after removing the screws. I would rap on the back panel with a rubber mallet to hopefully free up whatever is causing the back panel to stick.
cheeseholidays
Correct, yeah. I just didn’t want to force it. If those screws are all there is, I have a rubber mallet and can try coaxing it a bit. Felt like a bad idea to blindly start trying to pry it off. Regarding the terminals, I unfortunately had already ordered the two terminal version. Mouser already shipped it too, so I will probably use those at least for now.
OO1
remove all screws , take a wide metal scraper , lodge it gently into the corners and the center top-bottom / sides , pull out very gently until there is a gap , the 1/2 inch rear wood panel will come loose , slow and easy does it . cheeseholidays
Success! I was at least able to get the bits of drilled out screw completely out of the terminal. In the meantime my “solution”: They’re switch tips from my guitar parts bin. Just tight enough!
geezin'
Seems the crossovers have been recapped sometime. I think you should just listen for awhile.

That’s a nice surprise! They were a local find I picked up several years ago. Beyond what I knew from the SN (consecutive too) I don’t really know their history. cheeseholidays
Either way, it’s good to know more about these. The other one is 223, so 1975?
OO1
yes , 1975 , 100% original .

geezin'
My '79 had big old cans. That's why I thought it had been done. Well then nevermind........
JohnA
I replaced the terminals in some of my Heresies with terminal cups. Round are trivial to cut, install and seal. https://www.parts-express.com/Gold-Banana-5-Way-Recessed-Speaker-Terminal-Round-260-311?quantity=1

Might need to make the drill holes a little larger. https://www.parts-express.com/Binding-Post-with-1-Thread-2-Pair-091-1250?quantity=1 https://www.parts-express.com/Binding-Post-Banana-Jack-Pair-w-Tab-091-340?quantity=1 https://www.parts-express.com/Dayton-Audio-BPA-38G-HD-Binding-Post-Pair-Gold-091-1245?quantity=
