Jeff Matthews
What's the modern device used to play music over 2 channel? Can you plug a laptop into a preamp these days, or what?

Jeff Matthews
What are some good separate amp/pre-amp combos that use this technology?
pbphoto
Do you have an existing 2-channel pre-amp that you want to use? Or are you looking to buy new? What OS do you run on your laptop?
wuzzzer
I use an Amazon 4k Fire Stick and run Amazon Music. Most tracks are HD or Ultra HD and sound fantastic.
Jeff Matthews
I plan to buy whatever I need. I'm not looking to fit existing equipment. My laptop is Windows. It would be great to be able to set up playlists and play them. I don't know what's what beyond CD players. I'm out of touch.
MMurg
I'm using a WiiM Mini to stream Amazon Music from my phone.
Schu
A DAP plugs directly into a preamp... that's what I do if I can only get a piece of music digitally, like many Soundtracks these days. SP3000
geoff.
@Jeff Matthews, A Bluesound Node will give you free access to Spotify. There will be commercials periodically, but nothing like You-Tube. The only trade-off is you won't find Neil Young on Spotify, LOL! You will also find every radio station you've ever heard on the Node. But that will get old fast once you start chasing every album you never owned on Spotify. I rarely ever listen to anything else now. I never understood why people were selling off entire CD libraries, until now.
