I can't copy/paste Excel stuff in here, but the # is the location in the CD changer, followed by the artist, followed by the CD name. Thats basically my entire music career. I have a few other odds and ends, but this is >95% of it.

That is my music library, or most of it at least. Just reformatted and that is what I have brought back over thus far. When I was a freshman in High School I took song requests and burned CD's for people charging about $5 each with a special CD cover and case all tailor made. I was the one everyone went to. IT would not be outrageous to say that I sold enough CD's that year to have sold a CD to ever student in the high school (~600).

I used that money to buy my first Klipsch (it was the whole reason I started selling the CD's, I wanted a set of v2.400's! LoL!). I don't do it anymore, now that I know just how illegal it was. But I think it was worth it, look at the community I have, and I am not in a jail cell! 1.gif

I still download and burn CD's for friends and family but I don't charge. 1.gif. Guess that is not QUITE as illegal.

I have like 1000 CD's they are all shelved/racked in alphabetical order and I have a MS Word listing on my PC, just reminded me - I have to update it. I listen to just about anything from ABC to ZZ Top. Anyone need anything burned to CD-R, my burner sits idle with nothing to do. I have alot of import stuff I picked up in Germany during my three year stay there. Anyone want a list of what I got, email me. Lemme update it this weekend.

I'll

Rap your ears back if you play that in my house.

Blues, Blues, and more Blues with a little Rock & Roll from pre 1975 thrown in.

LOL My son knows better than to even admit he ever listens to rap although I know he does when he's in the car sometimes. I guess it's a generation X thing. Can't understand it myself but I don't think my parents could relate to some of the music I listened to in the 70s.

There are different degree's of rap. There is intelligent rap where if you listen to the lyrics, you wil notice that no one is talking about pimping and 20" blades on their impala, but really about how some things defy belief (ie Blackalicious - Release). There are many rappers or hip hop singers out there that are not bragging about how many Escalades they have, you just have to look and listen for them. I found out about Blackalicious from a friend and have two of their CD's. Intelligence, check out chemical calystenics, there they rap to the periodic table and mix some chemicals and explain the reaction! and they do this a mile a minute. would be great for a science teacher to get his/her students to memorize the table. check out alphabet aerobics for the alphabet in a similar fashion.

you can stereotype any genre of music.

country/western - my dog was run over and my mom's in jail...

rap - i'm a baller, shot caller...

blues - ba nanannnana, ba anananana, i so blue, lost me job, have no wife...

pop - oops i did it again, i over played a song, got caught in the $$$...

boy band - girls like me, i am hot, dance around, sing high notes...

punk rock - i don't give a @%#$, where's my skate board...

hard rock - go awayyyyyy, haaaaaaaaaate, ahhhhhhrrrrrrrggggggggg where's my booze...

jazz - shoomy de be bop tota ratta tat tat tadda boom bang!...

opera - oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhlaaaaaaaaa ti doooormaaaaaaa, i'm aaaaa over zealoussss sinnnggggaaaaaaaaaaaa

I try to look beyond all those stereotypes, and others, hence my library of music linked to above. in one playlist i might have blackalicious, diana krall and sarah brightman, ending with ben folds, some missy elliot and maybe some shania twain.

Hey Justin, you forgot prog rock...

And then one day you find, ten years have got behind you

No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking

And racing around to come up behind you again

The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older

Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Then, of course, is the Deadhead stereotype:

Q: "What did the Deadhead say when he quit smoking pot?"

A: "This music sucks"

2.gif

Proof that stereotypes are often untrue and way overblown. In fact, I would venture a guess - I take that back, I guarantee - that there are some who don't admit they listen to Grateful Dead (believe it or not, many I knew who followed them hid that fact from employers), or simply never listened to Grateful Dead because of the stereotype. Big mistake9.gif

I like your taste in music Kenratboy: Massive Attack, Boards of Canada, Thievery, Shadow, even PVD. I listened to Out There And Back just last night; one of my favorite cd's ever. I also like modern rock though, STP, Pearl Jam, Godsmack, etc. It's also always to throw in a little easy listening though like Dido and Norah Jones.
