Oh man, how could I have overlooked M*A*S*H*...

Through early morning fog I see

Visions of the things to be,

The pains that are withheld for me,

I realize and I can see...

That suicide is painless,

It brings on many changes

And I can take or leave it if I please.

The game of life is hard to play,

I'm going to loose it anyway,

The loosin' card I'll someday lay;

So this is all I have to say...

That suicide is painless,

It brings on many changes

And I can take or leave it if I please.

The only way to win is cheat

And lay it down before I'm beat

And to another give my seat

For that's the only painless feat.

That suicide is painless,

It brings on many changes

And I can take or leave it if I please.

And you can do the same thing if you please.

Or Secret Agent:

There's a man who leads a life of danger.

To everyone he meets he stays a stranger

With every move he makes,

Another chance he takes.

Odds are he won't live to see tomorrow.

Secret Agent Man.

Secret Agent Man.

They've given you a number.

And taken away your name.

Beware of pretty faces that you find.

A pretty face may hide an evil mind.

Ooh be careful what you say.

Or you give yourself away.

Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow.

Secret Agent Man.

Secret Agent Man.

They've given you a number.

And taken away your name.

Swinging on the Riviera one day

Layin' in a Bombay alley the next.

Oh don't let the wrong word slip.

While kissin persuasive lips.

Odds are you won't live to see tomorrow.

Secret Agent Man.

Secret Agent Man.

They've given you a number.

And taken away your name.

Johnny Rivers Rocks!

Ray, as long as we're burning bandwidth for OT, how about posting the lyrics to "Rawhide"?

1) CSI: Miami

2) The Lone Ranger

3) Rawhide

4) The Secret Agent

5) Mission Impossible

6) Bonanza

7) Rockford Files

8) Wild Wild West

9) Combat (where are the re-runs?)

10) The Avengers

The end of the incredable hulk. AS he is walking away hitchhiking. It's not the opening it's the end but it does deserve mentioning. The Dukes of Hazard is really good opener. Curb your enthusiasm is growing on me like a fungus. Sanford and son. I love the Sopranos tune in the beginning to. Woke up this morning and got yourself a gun.

Another one we have to put in is the opening song of every sporting event and NASCAR race: The Star Spangled Banner.

It's been murdered more than once but it is catchy.

And Taxi and Archie Bunker's Theme and it's spin-off the Jeffersons.

One common thread seems to be the better the production ie: likelyhood of being a hit, the better the theme song.

someone wanted Rawhide?

Rawhide

and a few others...

The Adams Family

Batman

The Beverly Hillbillys

Gilligan's Island

Highway Patrol

Lassie

Mighty Mouse

Supercar

The Munsters

Hawaii Five-0

Miami Vice

Mission Impossible

and my personal favorite,

Underdog

by the way, on my system, these work a lot better in Windoze Media Player than they do in Real. I have no idea why.

Ray, Awesome post!!! Have to agree with a lot of the others, but how can we leave off Law and Order or ER? STNG and Sopranos are great, Hill Street Blues, someone mentioned Sanford and Son, what about Good Times, What's Happening, or the Jeffersons? Andy Griffith is definitely one of my favorites. All I've learned from this is that there is no way I could narrow it down to just a top 10!!! Excellent Idea for a topic!!!

As long as we are talking about just the music and not the "opening sequences," Ironsides by Quincy Jones was one of the best ever. (I understand that it is on the Kill Bill soundtrack.)

While we are on QJ, his Smackwater Jack, a.k.a. Hicky Burr from Bill Cosby Show, is also one of the more memorable.

I have a copy of TeeVee Toons Presents "Television's Greatest Hits" Featuring Don Pardo. 65 TV Themes From The 50's and 60's. It's a double album beginning with Don Pardo's sign on into Captain Kangaroo ending with The National Anthem. It has cool stuff like "We Interrupt This Program," "Please Stand By" and "Test Of The Emergency Broadcast System-Duck And Cover" along with every theme song you could possibly imagine.

A few a don't think were mentioned from my lp are:

"Casper The Friendly Ghost"

"Felix The Cat"

"Popeye"

"Yogi Bear"

"Top Cat"

"Leave It To Beaver"

"Dennis The Menace"

"McHale's Navy"

"Mannix"

"Combat"

"Daniel Boone"

"Adam 12"

"F Troop"

"77 Sunset Strip"

and too many more to write.
