Clipped and Shorn Posted May 28, 2004 Share Posted May 28, 2004 I just answered a CQ on 20 meters from W9IMS, the ham club set up at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Amateur Radio Club). I was amazed he could hear my little signal coming off my antenna strung between two trees here in northern CA. I guess I had that thing tuned correctly..... I am finally getting the hang of this and it is fun.....it is amazing how 100 watts is about all you need to reach just about anywhere. There is also a whole other aspect to this hobby called QRP where hams are into flea powered rigs. Anything less that 10 watts, even going down to mico-watts of transmitting power....
