xxufo1xx
I presently own a pair of KG4's that I have been pairing with a number of vintage receivers - Pioneer sx-1250 and sx-1010 as well as a Marantz 2250 and a Yamaha rx-v870. I would like to upgrade to another speaker in the Heritage line but am not sure what to go with ( Heresy , Forte or Cornwall ) and what I should be paying for these. BTW I have A/B'd the KG4's with a $1500 B&W and was still happier with my Klipsch. I have settled on the Pioneer sx-1010 as my receiver of choice (for now!) Any suggestions would be appreciated. My room size is 13x25 if that is important. Thanks
radiob
Keep your speakers and buy a 2a3 set amp with a good tube pre amp, then youll have a sweet system.
Parrot
Ric, The Klipsch line of speakers keeps improving at each price point. The easiest advice is to get the most expensive Klipsch you can afford.
NOSValves
If you have the room out of the speakers you mentioned I'd go Cornwall all the way. You should be able to score a set for $700 to $1K depending on the condition. Craig
jeffgeorge
I guess the answer to your question will depend on how much bass and "slam factor" you are looking for. I would say that you would probably be a little disappointed with the Heresy's bass output (possibly less bass than what your KG4's produce). I love my Heresy's however. The Forte's and Chorus are good choices, but the Chorus are quite a bit bigger. Expect to pay $400-600 for Heresy, $600-800 Fortes and $800-$1000 for Chorus. krustyoldsarge
Try pairing Chorus II's with your Marantz 2250. Mine are hooked to a 2385 and the bass is collossal! If you're like me, though, you won't be able to part with the KG'4s! I'm keeping mine for later rear channel use.

Dflip
Skip the Heresys, too small and don't go deep enough. For bass the Fortes are hard to beat, but with your good sized room, take a look at the Chorus or Cornwall. The Chorus might do a little better with the SS equipment, but both speakers like tubes and don't need the power that you have available. Depending on the type of music you listen to, something is the 15 to 30 W range will give you all you need. Your cuurent amp produces a lot more than you need. You may notice some brightness in the midrange and many people rope caulk the squawker (midrange) horn to tame this down a bit. A choice of any of the three will be enjoyable for you. The Cornwalls 35.75" x 25.5" x 15.5" (height x width x depth)take up the most floor space, followed by the Chorus 39" x 18.5" x 15.5" and then the Fortes 35.4" x 16.5" x 12". xxufo1xx
Thanks for all the input. Let me clarify by saying that I love my KG4's and have no intention of parting with them. I guess I am just wondering how much of an improvement I could expect with the move to Forte or Cornwall. As I said before I preferred the KG4's to the B&W DM604s3($1500)so maybe I should just stay with these. I think the Cornwalls may be a space and WAF issue but the Fortes certainly do intrigue me. Is there a marked difference between the I and II ? Thanks again for any help.
Cal Blacksmith
Welcome to the board! I love my Forte 1 speakers. There is more than enough bass for me. My room is small though and they are about as big as I could go. I would love to have a pair of Cornwalls, Bells, or Khorns but size is a factor. It would be hard to go wrong with any Klipshc heretage speaker, but go for as much as you can afford and will fit in your room.
thebes
Welcome If you like the sound of the KG 4's you might want to consider climbing the KG ladder. I've got the 5.2's and they have are nicely smooth and detailed yet have plenty of bass slam and if you're a rock and roller you'll like them. They go for between $300 and $400 and the KG 5.5's for about a $100 more. I occasionaly run my 5.2's with a Marantz 2015 which is a smaller version than your Mrantz and they match up very well.
