Frank Speaker
Hey Allan: Ive been reading The Kerry Plan for America that you recommended but came across some things that sound Bushian. What are your thoughts on these statements?: Page 10 Today, we face three great challenges above all others: first, to win the global war against terror; second, to stop the spread of nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons; and third, to promote democracy, development, and freedom around the world, starting by winning the peace in Iraq. Page 12 We will always be prepared to use military force to defeat terrorists before they strike at us. We will ensure that the worlds best fighting forces are trained and equipped to seek out and destroy terrorists and their networks, and effectively conduct the operations necessary to deny them sanctuary. page 17 We need a new military to meet the new threats of the 21st century. Todays American military is the best in the world, but tomorrows military must be better still stronger, faster, better armed, and never again stretched so thin. page 36 We support effective and peaceful strategies to end the Castro regime as soon as possible and enable the Cuban people to take their rightful place in the democratic Community of the Americas. We will work with the international community to increase political and diplomatic pressure on the Castro regime to release all political prisoners, support civil society, promote the important work of Cuban dissidents, and begin a process of genuine political reform. We support a policy of principled travel to Cuba that promotes family unity and people-to-people contacts through educational and cultural exchanges. Allan Songer
Why on earth would you think ANYONE with mainstream views and a true love of this country would not approve of these statements. You picked out a few PLATITUDES, perhaps a bit trite, but honest and generally correct. Saying and DOING are two different things. Bush has proven to me that he speaks with a forked tongue. I am hoping Kerry is not.

scott0527
Wow, Allan, you're coming around. You're giving Bush credit for telling the truth 10% of the time.
neo33
Wow! There might be some chance for Allan. He's leaning to the right about 6 degrees.
hooting_monkey
I would vote based on what their current plans for the government, not wether they did a drug or had a bad service record in the military. If people knew how horrible Einstein was in school nobody would have believed his theorys, so try not to base who your decision on who you will vote for on the fact that they likes to smoke a little back in the days or not releasing their personal records. hooting_monkey
And BTW, all presidents lie. They cheat, they lie, they backstab. We just need to find one that knows how to do it all properly.
boomac
Like the 60 minutes show, the rumage sale was a bust. They had some old Fisher Speakers that were rotten. Like the show as well. A ton of LPs but again, like the show, they were old, scrachy and tired. Last but not least, they had an old receiver but, get this, it would only play AM! Parrot
There are two great things about Kerry's views: 1) If you don't like a particular point of his platform, not to worry, because it will be different within a couple of weeks. (With the exception of raising taxes. Kerry is consistent that he will raise taxes.) 2) If you are anti-war, you can hope that Kerry is lying when he acts hawkish, that he is only trying to con Middle Americans, and that he is really a cut-and-run peacenik. But a lot of Lefties have already given up on their wishful-thinking, especially since Kerry said he would have voted for the war even knowing that large caches of WMD would not be found. So maybe there's only one great thing about his views--they change so quickly that all you have to do is wait a little while and he's bound to agree with something that you think.
