phatbass
khorns These look pretty beat. If the wood were to be refinished would this be worthwhile(assuming drivers work)? I was going to buy some la scalas but if I could get these for cheap it would be sweet. Also what year are these, and what is up with the serial #? Such a beautiful speaker that needs some repair. 3dzapper
They look like they have been in a flood. the plywood is separating everywhere. Tell him you will take them off his hands if he pays you $100. Pass on them at any price.IMHO Rick
scott0527
Those were his Outdoor speakers for the last 20 years.
fini
I'd go for it, if they were cheap enough. Looks like they spent a lot of time on their bellies. Components might be salvageable, and the front panel is a big flat piece of plywood. A good repair challenge, but that's opinion.
J.4knee
I'd make an attempt at them if I were you depending on your wood working skills. This could be an inexpensive way to get K-Horns. If you do take them on as a project don't get impatient take your time and do them right or have the professionaly done.
lynnm
Yipe!!!....And I thought my old girls were rough when I got them!!
edwinr
That would be a project and a half. I don't know whether I'd actually pay money for them. The 15" drivers are probably shot given the water marks on the front panels. I think the seller is being a bit optimistic there.
007
looks like a fun restore project if nothing else. you could do a step by step tutorital, hell i bet discovery channel would film it!
fini
They look to be '77's. See the "R" in the stamped serial number? These have the potential to be a "piece of cake" veneer repair (although you never know). What appears awful could, in fact, indicate a lot of the work is already done! The veneer is peeling off the front. Finish its removal, and you're left with the lumber core (probably solid poplar), which you'd have to repair and make flat in preparation for a re-veneer. The question is: How is the veneer on the inside of that panel. If that were damaged, you'd have to replace the whole panel, which could be a big problem, depending on how it's constructed (access to connectors, i.e. nails and screws being potental snags). The visible damage makes me think it's been sitting face-down on that panel on something damp, as opposed to being upright in a flood. I'd still jump at $200, and would try and get a look (or help looking, from a local forum member) before bidding. Note: One tailboard is missing, as are all the side grills. The seller probably picked them up at a garage sale or something. Also, there is a reserve, so who knows. Interested bidders should ask a TON of questions... garymd
Those speakers give a new meaning to "distressed." I'd never have the patience for them but they may not be a complete loss.

Parrot
You guys are being way too critical. With a little dusting they'd be Near Mint.

D-MAN
Those have been in a fire, IMO... Not water damage, but heat and smoke... Still, they COULD be fixed, I recon... They might be a good deal if everything worked. DM
vlod
I would be leary of these. Looks like they have spent long periods of time in the direct sun and exposed to all types of weather.
DrWho
Wow, they look good to me. If I ever had the money to bid on them and then actually won, I could see myself just using them the way they are. Guess that's just me...
Griffinator
$700 and still haven't met the reserve. I wouldn't touch them, myself. They look like they spent wayyyyyy too much time in someone's basement in a pile of clutter getting mildewed.
lynnm
I agree. I too wouldn't touch those things with a 12' Swede.
