Frzninvt
Check these mothers out! Low WAF I would imagine. Big mothers though! http://cgi.audiogon.com/cgi-bin/cl.pl?spkrfull&1102730812
Daddy Dee
Wow, and for only $74900.00 o.b.o. Low WAF indeed! Those things are UHGLYEEEE! The spacecraft set from the original Alien movie comes to mind.
nicholtl
Those look positively industrial! I've always pictured speakers like those to be the ones they use in movie theaters. Now this guy's got em in the comfort of his own home! Any wife that willing to let those slide in her living room is definitely a keeper! Klipschfoot
Comparing them to a pair of bookshelf speakers is a great selling point. I can't imagine even my closest friends understanding why I would have a pair of those.
D-MAN
Yikes! Those are monstrosities, I don't care how good they might sound... The WAF? Way below zero, into the "over my dead body" area. Or is that the "over YOUR dead body" area? DM

Chris Robinson
I wonder how much Dynamat it would take to dampen those puppies??
garymd
I was thinking about a pair of those for my backyard.
tpg
If I had a couple hundred-thousand per year to spend on audio, I'd probably own a pair or two of those. Also would have some Avante-Garde stuff... But... I don't have that kind of money... yet... Maybe I never will. Who knows. I am trying, though, and I suppose I have a while to go. I kinda like them personally... I like big horns like that. My dream is to have a home theater (like REAL theater) based on the Klipsch MCM-Grands. Three across the front with two KPT-684's... seating capacity for a hundred or so... hehe
scott0527
You have to remember to change the bag often because when the bag gets full that thing won't pick up anything!
edwinr
BIG speakers. I wonder where the listening sweet spot would be. I wonder if Dean would be prepared to perform his magic on the x-overs!
jhawk92
Probably not much better than these monsters http://www.6moons.com/industryfeatures/Denver/denver_9.html The top couple of pictures, not great quality, of the Cogent loudspeakers. Reg Body (Sprocket) and I went to the Denver AudioFest last weekend and we did a quick listen to these. Not all that impressive. The big thing in the back is supposedly the sub. Up close, you could see the screw pattern and make out the folds in that horn as well. So how do I do the HTML to make this a clickable link? edwinr
I tried to make it a clickable link but it wouldn't work for me. Great pics though.
Griffinator
jhawk - the code is < a href="link.htm" >your pics< /a > without the spaces.... PS: No, those definitely have a better WAF factor than the ones in the original post. I wouldn't even stand to have those ugly monstrosities in my living room. The setup you show, I could tolerate, if they had a sound that was truly mindblowing.
maxg
That price is outrageous too - for that kind of money we are talking Avantgarde trios and the horn loaded sub: higher WAF IMHO - and probably better sound - but I am guessing on that one. edwinr
Very impressive, Max. Now that's what I call a subwoofer. When it's not in use you could use it as a guest bedroom.
maxg
ed, Guest bedroom The only reason I havent bought them is that my Beagle thinks it is a new kennel! - and I really dont need him cocking his leg on $40,000 of woofer (pun unintended) either. edwinr
Yes, thanks Max, I got it. I fixed it. It's getting late for me. I was just staring at your post trying to figure out what you meant! But Avantgarde make some nice stuff, I particularly like the Duo. This speaker offers near Klipschorn sound quality with the ability to fit into any room. The only bad part is that in Australia the Duo cost's nearly $10,000 more than the Khorn's!
