Audio Flynn
If there is no room for debate, then why have a forum, just buy ad time. For what it's worth, the "Parrot" guy is one of the most clever writers I have ever encountered on an internet forum. ======================== Parrot may be Don Rickles without the profanity at times but he does get people to think. This is recreation for me. Certainly not a court of law of the State Senate. Baiting cultivates debate; it is not a hate crime. You get baited; get data; prove your point, or modify your position. Get thicker skin or get a life.

Mallette
Absolutely fascinating thread. Made me think of how many tripwires and landmines I stepped on in my first year or so on the Forum. There were giants in the earth in those days, masters of the domain and able to lure unsuspecting, naive Fast Newbies (never quite fast enough, however) into deadly engagements they'd perfected over years of successful use. Then Sheriff Unger and her gang show'd up and cleaned up the town. Peaceful folks could gather and talk about music, The Great One, and the merits of fine zip cord without fear of getting shot up. Furthermore, those of us who survived our wounds learned how to spot the visual indicators of danger and to avoid them. The remaining threats serve only as a reminder to the wise, and present only a nominal danger to the unwary Fast Newbie who wanders into town for a quick drink at the Last Chant Saloon. Any real threats are rapidly identified and incarcerated by Sheriff Unger. Yep, it's right peaceful around here. Check your guns at the city limits and join the singing. Thanks, Sheriff. We needed that. Dave

He'd been warned several times. Yes, we show favoritism to people who have been here for years or contribute in a positive way most of the time. Gee, I chose this past weekend to go to a national archery tournament and missed everything!:-( I swore to myself that after the last time, I would never come to Allen's defense again. That said, weren't both Allan and Paul warned. Paul for his baiting and trolling and Allan for short fuse? PP continues his conduct and is rewarded? PP got to me once. After that, I was "being watched". Now I just consider the source and the day of the week (yes, there is a pattern there) and imagine what it really is that is doing the talking. (On both sides in the incedent under discussion.) Have I ever trolled and baited for a response? Sure. Usually in a humorous way. Life is too short to take it too serously. Rick PS: If any newbie wants to see examples baiting and trolling, search any thread where the poster asks questions about SET.

I believe he's doing it now, but I can't really tell. He's walking a fine line--he has not been rewarded anything. Trey did let Allan back on the board, Paul. That is our desicion alone. Apparently "baiting" means different things to different people. When "baiting" means saying something that someone else does not want to hear, or when it means disagreeing with someone, or when it means arguing with someone, then the word has become so inclusive that it doesn't mean its original definition anymore. Wouldn't it be a sweet old world if everyone agreed with everyone else? When every response to "Should I buy X" would be "Yes, that is a GREAT CHOICE." Where everyone agreed that the physics of watts, wire, and electricity were matters of PERSONAL OPINION. My answer to that is No. If people want to be given blanket praise for their SET amps, for example, AudioAsylum has a whole forum devoted to it. That forum was created because SET fans caused too much strife with people in the regular amp section of AudioAsylum. If someone wants to brag up his $1000 power cord, why shouldn't someone else be able to point out the absurdity of it? I think it would be a disservice not to. Again, there is an entire specialized forum devoted to magic wires, and that is the best place to be if you want everyone to pat you on the back. If anyone were skeptical of magic wires there, they would be run off.
